+Eric K
Actually, I noticed there are red envelopes and blue envelopes and the red designates a topic a 'hot' topic. How many posts does it take to make a topic a 'hot' topic? Link to comment
+Team GPSaxophone
I suppose we'll have to respond to this thread to find out Link to comment
Pantalaimon
Well... apparently its not "two." Maybe its "thrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" (Notice the avatar.) Link to comment
Pantalaimon
Not four. And what the heck is "flood control?" Link to comment
+Sparky-Watts
HAR DEE HAR HAR HAR!!!!! Flood control? Mostly it's a series of dikes and ditches to keep water from coming into places you don't want it, but here it's a timer system designed to keep hackers from launching scroll attacks (what we used to call them in chat, but don't know what they're called in forums), or posting too many replies too quickly and overloading the server. It would make a lot more sense to install a pipeline from the Missouri and Mississippi rivers to the Colorado and Rio Grande. Whenever there's a flood in the midwest, the excess water could be pumped out west to help stave off the drought. What, that's not what Pan meant by flood control? Link to comment
Pantalaimon
What, that's not what Pan meant by flood control? No, that's what I meant. Thanks. Not eight. Link to comment
Pantalaimon
And while we're at it, what does the little dot in the middle of the envelope icon mean? Not nine. Link to comment
+Team GPSaxophone
That means no one else has broken the seal on your last post like I just did Link to comment
+Sparky-Watts
And while we're at it, what does the little dot in the middle of the envelope icon mean? Not nine. It means it was dotted in the middle, and not on the edge. Link to comment
+Team GPSaxophone
Hey, don't slow down now! This is a test! Link to comment
Pantalaimon
I can't believe my "seal" was broken by GPSaxaphone. TWICE! I feel so used. Not twelve. (FYI: As long as you put "Not X" at the end of your post, where X is equal to the number of responses above yours, you can pretty much write whatever you want in this topic AND be "on topic." That is, of course, until some wiseguy forum moderator steps in and answers our questions.) Link to comment
+Eric K
Well it doesn't appear to be 15. I think it may be if a topic gets to have more than one page. I noticed all the 'hot' envelopes are on at least their second page of posts. Link to comment

The dot indicates a thread that you have posted to. (I really wanted to say "Those are posts from India", but that's so not PC. ) Edited December 9, 2003 by Prime Suspect Link to comment

No, I'm pretty sure that's not correct. The dot indicates a thread you've posted to. I can go to the thread list and see dotted threads, and I can also see that I'm not the last poster on them. +gnbrotz
Well, it's not 22, and the dot does not disappear when someone replies to your post. It remains on ANY thread you have posted too (at least mine do). Edited December 9, 2003 by gnbrotz Link to comment
Elias
I know this is fun, but I'm going to spoil it and tell you that the number is 50. Elias Link to comment
+Prime Suspect
I know this is fun, but I'm going to spoil it and tell you that the number is 50. Elias That makes sense, as I only see it threads that have gone to multiple pages (and there are 50 to a page). Link to comment

Pantalaimon
I know this is fun, but I'm going to spoil it and tell you that the number is 50. Elias I disagree with your assertion that answering our question is "spoiling" the fun. Furthermore, as it saved me from another 25 posts, I thank you for the answer. Now, can you clear up the "dot" controversy? It's fifty. Twenty-four to go. Link to comment
Pantalaimon
Uh... Elias? I'm looking at the "I'm Moving On" thread posted by CoyoteRed in the Geocaching Topics forum..... It has 49 posts and its a red envelope. Explain yourself!!! Link to comment

Pantalaimon
I just realized that the "dot" on the envelope must represent a seal on the envelope, like in olden days when you used to stamp your envelopes shut using wax and a personalized stamper. Pretty sneaky, sis. Link to comment
+CO Admin
The dot means you have replyed to that thread. The red is for fifty total. The original and 49 replys. But dont tell I told you Link to comment
