Jove Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 (edited) I just moved up here to North New Jersey from Miami and I am looking to make some friends for Geocaching. I will check back on this post, but I can be reached on AIM at the screen name "Poki D Clown" or my e-mail at jove@bellsouth.net . Edited December 7, 2003 by jove Quote
+briansnat Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 Of course I was just kidding about Hartclimbs. Where in northern NJ are you? We ocassionally get together for group hunts, so that's a good way to meet people (see KBer's post from yesterday as an example). Keep your eyes on this board to see if anybody is planning one of these. Quote
+KBer Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 As The Sopranos once said: " Jersey a small state, ...you can tip it over", Seriously BrianSnat question is relevant, where in Jersey do you live, or what exit? Quote
+Mopar Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 Stay away from Hartclimbs. Hartclimbs, I had know idea you and Enfanta were an item, congrats! Quote
+Mopar Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 Stay away from Hartclimbs. And really stay away from BrianSnat, he's the trouble maker around these parts. Quote
+Geo Ho Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 Stay away from Mopar he's MINE. Happy caching and stuff! Quote
+Team Og Rof A Klaw Posted December 7, 2003 Posted December 7, 2003 (edited) To geocache in New Jersey, you need to apply for a Geocache ID. Plus a Geocache Seeking Permit for every cache you want to attempt. Fingerprints, retina scan, two references, an FBI background check, a urine sample, a DNA sample, $150 in small unmarked bills (no consecutive serial numbers,) and an extremely long delay are mandatory. Contact your local police department to start the humiliation process. Welcome to New Jersey! Edited December 7, 2003 by Team Og Rof A Klaw Quote

+briansnat Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 Im in Bergen County - Fort Lee - Which is by the GW Bridge. Lotta great caches in that area. Try the Giants Stairs. Quote
+PSUPAUL Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 Stay away from Mopar he's MINE. GAG! My thoughts exactly! Quote
+The Frantic Cachers Posted December 8, 2003 Posted December 8, 2003 This one is in your backyard And gives a great view. Quote
Jove Posted December 8, 2003 Author Posted December 8, 2003 That was was my second cache try and I searched for 45 minutes until going onto another cache. I couldn't find it. I went all up and down where I believe it's supposed to be with no luck. I sent an e-mail to "The Artfull Dodger" asking for a little help. Quote
marty621 Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 Team Og is correct, but failed to mention the GPS purchase permit, map download tax, geoclipping tariff, and multicache hunting stamps. Be prepared to be viewed as a criminal as you park for your cache hunts. You know geocaching is a major threat to the security of the NJ populus. DO NOT commit the capital offense of using an ammo box for a cache container. Keep your eyes on these boards, watch for upcoming get togethers and you will meet wonderful people in this sport. Quote
+Team Og Rof A Klaw Posted December 9, 2003 Posted December 9, 2003 (edited) Ya know, Marty, someone should put together an "Application Process" multi. Something with about seventy-eight stages, in which the last few start sending you back to the earlier ones. Oh, yeah. If you do Melvin's Multiple Madness, you'll likely meet some great folks and have (and provide) hours of mud-slogging fun. Edited December 9, 2003 by Team Og Rof A Klaw Quote
Jove Posted December 10, 2003 Author Posted December 10, 2003 Is it possible to do Melvin's Multiple Madness this time of year? It sounds like alot of fun. Anyone interested in finding this cache with me? Quote
marty621 Posted December 10, 2003 Posted December 10, 2003 Yes its absolutely possible, maybe the best time to do it. No mosquitos, not too hot, vegetation is down. I set up Melvin's in January or February, but frozen conditions don't really help becuase it never freezes enough. Quote
