moule
Does anyone know how the Internet time which appears at the bottom of a cache page is calculated, the decimal number after the @ sign? Thanks Quote Link to comment
Stunod
This page should give you a good idea how it works. Quote Link to comment
Prime Suspect
This page should give you a good idea how it works. On that page, they left out one bullet point: Disadvantages of the Internet Time system The use of the Biel Meridian introduces an unwanted additional Meridian - the Greenwich Meridian is the standard Meridian of the world. The second, and not the beat is the basic unit of time in the International System of Units (and using .beats instead, would complicate the system). The Internet Time system might seem like more of commercial marketing attempt, than a real system. It's the stupidest idea anyone has ever come up with. "Don't mess with a geocacher. We know all the best places to hide a body." Quote Link to comment
ohgr
SWATCH group (Watches) has been pushing for this to become a standard for a long time. You can see more info, and a .pdf file on it here: Swatch Internet Time Hope this helps. Ohgr Edited December 2, 2003 by ohgr Quote Link to comment
DavidMac
According to their brochure, internet time "eliminates time zones and geographical differences..." Isn't that the idea behind using UTC/zulu time ? Quote Link to comment

xenophon10k
Ahh, Swatch Internet Time. Is there anything else quite as useless? Isn't it a scary indication of what can happen when you let marketroids make actual decisions? Quote Link to comment
