suethorn
I didn't see any other messages or topics mentioning this, so I figured I would post something to let people know - there's a book focused on geocaching, scheduled for release on December 5th. Here's the link to the description on BN.com: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearc...590591224&itm=2 Naturally, I've already got my copy preordered! Quote Link to comment
+carleenp
I knew someone was writing one. Interesting, but in reality no one should need a book to figure out how to geocache. Still, I suppose it could help interest and educate people about the sport. That could certainly be useful. Quote Link to comment
+The Weasel
Is the person who wrote the book a geocaching.com member or did they get any of their info from a member? Just curious I guess. Quote Link to comment
+carleenp
There was someone who posted here some a year or more ago researching a geocaching book. I don't think the person was initially a cacher, but kind of became one while working on the book. I don't know if that is the same person who authored the book that is coming out, but I suspect that it is. Quote Link to comment
+RuffRidr
LOL! Check out the last book in the "People who bought this book also bought" section on the link above. Does someone need a book for that? --RuffRidr Quote Link to comment

Jeremy
I hate when people capitalize the C in geocaching. Like BaseBall. Quote Link to comment
+geospotter
I think that's to avoid confusing it with aching of your geocs (as in Geoc Aching). Quote Link to comment
+DustyJacket
I didn't know. I've used GeoCaching since I started. Now I have to figure out how to get it out of my spell checker. Or, you could realize it is futile and go with the flow. Linus Torvalds finally relented on the pronunciation of Linux............ Edited November 26, 2003 by DustyJacket Quote Link to comment

I always see "Nebrask Ache" when I read it! Maybe I'll start spelling it NebrasKache. Edited November 26, 2003 by carleenp Quote Link to comment

iheartzelda
Also in the "People who bought this book also bought: " list is a book by Tom Brown. Has anyone read anything by this guy? I read The Way of the Scout a while back. Pretty sweet book. It made me want to be a stealthy ninja ! Quote Link to comment
+perseid88
I do have one of Tom Browns wilderness survival books. This guy knows his stuff. He was also the technical advisor on a recent movie with Tommy Lee Jones where he was a tracker looking for some vietnam vet in the woods. I recegnized the way the actor was walking in the woods to be quiet as what I learned in the book and was not surprised to find out where it was learned. Quote Link to comment
+Huntnlady
I hope the book is written with a sense of humor, although looking at the Table of Contents, it looks pretty dry. Quote Link to comment
gm100guy
Outdoor Book Thread Funny you are laughing about that other book, I posted a message in the above thread about the same book a few days ago. I should go back and recommend this new book in that thread. Edited November 26, 2003 by gm100guy Quote Link to comment
+MaxEntropy
I'm interested in seeing what is in there. It seems that after about a dozen or so finds, one knows 95% of what there is to know about Geocaching. The rest is experience. If the book has a bunch or stories about the adventures of Geocachers, it could be worth the time, otherwise, I'll just go out caching. Quote Link to comment
gm100guy
The Book Back when I was in school we had an instructor who gave the same answer when ever you went and asked a question. Did you read the text book? Maybe we could use this phrase in place of Markwell now? Quote Link to comment

Does someone need a book for that? I've seen that book it's practical and funny at the same time. Kind of a "potty training" for yuppies that finally take their SUVs out of the big city! What I don't understand is how people bought a book that isn't released yet? For Sale: Bridge in New York, cheap. Quote Link to comment
+JMBella
The person who expressed interest in being the technical editor is well regarded in geocaching circles and highly knowledgeable and will ensure that the information is as directed to practical use as possible. Anyone know who that person is? Quote Link to comment
+JMBella
The other book... Quote Link to comment

I deliver food supplies to his camp in Asbury,NJ (Warren Co.) and there is always something cool going on there. I looked into taking a course and the price tag is out of my league. Tahosa and Sons
Well I went and looked at the link about Geocaching and liked the link about a book that would be usefull if you really couldn't find a cache after a long search.Up the Creek Quote Link to comment
+RocketMan
Did anyone notice that the listing for the other book says "Used Copies Available"? Now that's just sick. Quote Link to comment
