geko 201
Does anyone have any ideas on what to put in a micro cache that is small light and under about $10? Quote Link to comment
+ohgr
We just put together a cache that included a small wooden box that was full of little letter beads, and a bunch of Pre-Cut strings, and labeled it the "Make Your Own Name Bracelet Box" I don't know how big your Micro is, but the beads are small and you could probably fit 150 or so in an Altoids tin. In the sporting goods dept of any store there are a bunch of little gadgets and trinkets that any hiker/cacher would love to find in a cache. Large bills $$ will fold really small, If you go this route Email me with the coordinates as soon as you place it so I can be FTF. Foreign coins, Weird Stamps, Small homemade sig items. etc etc.... Good Luck Ohgr Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
For micros that can fit stuff, I use American flag and other pins, collectible coins (Indian head pennies, mercury dimes, buffalo nickels, SBA and Sacagawea dollars), wheresgeorge bills and small strings of colored paper clips. If the micro can fit it (if the container is something larger, like a decon box), I'll add things like the little GC.COM compasses, the ceramic figurines that come with Red Rose tea, GC.COM patches, US flag patches and unactivated travel bugs. +OneOfEm
I have placed the following in Micros (either 35mm canisters or magnetic key boxes): "a nice juicy cheesburger" "some fresh, hot french fries" "a cool, refreshing soda" "a cold, refreshing glass of lemonade" "a Thanksgiving turkey with all the fixin's" "a bottle of wine" All of these items are from the dollhouse isle at Hobby Lobby. My favorite is the lemonade. It's small enough that it can fit in nearly any cache. Quote Link to comment
+The Daniel Boone Gang
I'm wondering the same thing. Those Georocks look great, but given the size, I don't even know where to find a logbook that would fit in there. My initial take on these micro caches is to put co-ordinates to a hidden cache in them. That's about all that would fit. However, I still don't know about a logbook. Quote Link to comment
+carleenp
I recently bulk ordered a ton of mini devil duck pencil toppers to add to my signature pika pencils. I found that the duck alone will usually fit in either an altoid tin or film canister micro. Quote Link to comment
solohiker
I thought by definition a micro cache did not have trade items. If there are trade items then it becomes a smallish traditional cache, no? Quote Link to comment

+DustyJacket
Does anyone know for certain if the Groundspeak micro logs are write in the rain paper? I assumed they were, but they don't say so. I bought them to put in a non-water tight altoids tin. oops. Quote Link to comment
Fakk 2
There was a question about the rite in rain on the micro when they first came out. And I believe the answer is no its not the same paper type. Who will be the markweller of the post? I am to lazy to search for it. Quote Link to comment
+DustyJacket
Nertz. Now, I'll have to cut it down even more so I can include a baggie in the tin. I already cut 1/4 inch off the bottom and clipped the corners...... Quote Link to comment

I can see it now. Fumbling to open the box, the lid suddenly gives- BEADS FLYING IN A LARGE CIRCLE AND LANDING IN HIGH GRASS! Quote Link to comment
+CYBret
I see a lot of state quarters in micros. The flag pins are popular along with other kinds of pins (my lighthouse pins fit in them pretty nicely. Also little erasers shaped like animals and other stuff seem to be pretty popular around here. I stick some old P-38's in them too. Bret Quote Link to comment
