+kd7rvh
I think this is a cotton spindle, but I'm not certain. I found it within a few feet of benchmark TR0101. I'm not sure if it is related to the benchmark or not. Can anyone identify this for me, and explain its possible purpose? Thanks Quote Link to comment
+kd7rvh
Sorry about the repeat post, my earlier post was done during the board transition, and I thought it had been lost in the ether. Quote Link to comment
Dan Vull
Yes it appears to be a cotton spindle and a shiner. Many things are used to monument survey control. A good example would be the property pins here in New England. Everything from pipe to rebar to god knows what. I recovered a center of section in WI one time that was a truck axle. Spindles are still very popular in some parts of the country as markers for RLS's. I can not thing of anyone that would set one as a geodetic mark. Quote Link to comment
