4agers Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 (edited) I've recently commisioned an official El Diablo walking stick! But this isn't just any stick... this is the Caching Karma Stick! It holds the key to our, and possibly your, Caching Karma. Instead of simply having the stick shipped to us, I thought it would be fun to have the stick walk home! Needless to say, I'm going to need the help of other cachers between North Carolina and Cleveland to help me out. Although, the most direct route doesn't have to be the route taken. Since I don't want to trust our Caching Karma to just anyone, I would rather not leave this stick just sitting in the woods. I really hope I can get folks to meet at a cache and exchange the stick. There will be a travel bug inlayed into the stick, so we should be able to track it like any other bug. Please check out the TB Page and let me know if you're willing to help. Oh yeah, a special thanks to El Diablo for making the stick and being willing to be the first to hand it off. Admins... Wasn't sure if this should be in the TB section or not. Decided that it is part TB and part experiment. If you do decide to move it to the TB section, please give it a little while so I can get some exposure. Edited November 20, 2003 by 4agers Quote
JMBella Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 I don't think I'm in a location to help. Great idea though wish I could lend a hand. Quote
4agers Posted November 20, 2003 Author Posted November 20, 2003 (edited) Probably should have mentioned that the stick should be ready for action around the beginning of the year. Edited November 20, 2003 by 4agers Quote
ShaneN4Girls Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Sounds like a great idea. Wish it was coming this way. Quote
StormShadow Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Great idea. I hope it comes through south central PA on its way. Quote
Doc-Dean Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 If by chance it detours my way, I will be happy to help it on its journey! Quote
joefrog Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 That is so cool! Great idea -- I'd love to lay hands on it, and will look forward to watching its progress! Quote
pater47 Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 There's already a method in place for persons handing off an item to another then another then another sometimes taking roundabout ways and often taking months. It's called the Postal Service Quote
OzGuff Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 I am in western North Carolina about an hour west of Asheville. If you need anyone out here... I am also able to drive to Asheville/Knoxville at the drop of a hat. If you need a connection from Asheville to KNoxville... Best of luck! OzGuff Quote

sept1c_tank Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 (edited) I would be happy to assist if the staff comes my way (Indianapolis area). With a little luck, I may have one of El Diablo's staffs, also, by then. (The charity contest for "Make a Wish Foundation"). BTW...that's a really cool idea. SLCDave Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 WOW, the lengths some people will go to in order to save a buck on shipping.... Just kidding, good luck! Quote
Fakk 2 Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 (edited) you shd purchase two, one sent my mail the other by geocachers. see which one get sto you first. Maybe set up a website for placing bets with odds. Edited November 20, 2003 by Dream Alchemist Quote
El Diablo Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 You might want to put this in the regional fourms also. Also consider handing it off from caching event to caching event to get it on it's way. Just some thoughts. El Diablo Quote
DavidMac Posted November 20, 2003 Posted November 20, 2003 Not sure if it'll come this far west, but I can help if you need someone to get it through the Knoxville area. OzGuff, if you get ahold of it, I can send it northward into Kentucky. Quote
rmflagg Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 This sounds like a really cool idea...I just wish I had though of it first! I am in the Akron, Ohio area and I would be happy to help it on it's way! RMFlagg Quote
4agers Posted November 21, 2003 Author Posted November 21, 2003 Wow, I'm really glad there some real interest! It isn't that I'm cheap I don't want to use the postal service... I just don't think it would help anyone's Karma to be used in a disgruntled employee rampage. (Sorry USPS employees... these jokes have to be getting old) El Diablo… I think your right, I will post in local forums and Email some local groups between you and I. I will think of a way to mark down everyone interested in helping. Quote
Touchstone Posted November 21, 2003 Posted November 21, 2003 That's a real cool idea to get one of Diablo's geostaffs . I just got mine for my 4 yr old boy (Shhh.. it's supposed to be for Christmas). I'll be watching the TB page; I doubt it would get out to California Quote
4agers Posted November 23, 2003 Author Posted November 23, 2003 (edited) I think I may put a list of everyone who is willing to help out there. Do you don't think anyone will have a problem with that? Probably the easiest way is to simply put the list on the TB page and link to peoples profiles... so they can use the anonymous email feature of this board. Edited November 23, 2003 by 4agers Quote
4agers Posted December 19, 2003 Author Posted December 19, 2003 I've added the folks who have said they are willing to help right on the TB Page. Still need several folks. Especially in Virgina and West Virginia. Quote
Sparky-Watts Posted December 19, 2003 Posted December 19, 2003 Heck, send in out Kansas way and I'll get my son to bring it back that way the 3rd week of January! Quote

CraZy Cache Posted December 20, 2003 Posted December 20, 2003 Yeah, good Karma already! Dec. 30 is my birthday! What a great day for the Karma Stick to start its journey! My team can come from VA to to a cache (an easy one ) in NC near VA off I85 or I95 to pick up the Karma Stick and get it to VA for its next leg. Especially if it is before Jan. 5 when we have to go back to work! Hopefully it will come our way...Just let us know. This will be fun and probably good promotion for El Diablo too! I have a feeling once I see and get my hands on the Karma Stick, El Diablo will have another order Darlene CraZy Cache Quote

CraZy Cache Posted December 21, 2003 Posted December 21, 2003 4agers, You might want to post this in the Northeast Forum also to help draw some more VA and West VA cachers. I see it is in the Midwest Forum. Just a thought... Darlene CraZy Cache Quote

4agers Posted December 23, 2003 Author Posted December 23, 2003 Wow, I'm really happy with the turnout so far. I was afraid that nobody would be all that interested in helping. Never doubt the good will and willingness of Geocachers to try something new. WooHoo... this is going to be fun! Quote
