+nonnipoppy
My wife likes to purchase Christmas ornaments each year that somewhat signifies the past year for each member of the family. So the question. Does anyone know where to purchase a christmas tree size ammo can or replica? Quote Link to comment
+JMBella
I don't think thats gonna work out for you. How about a small tupperware with a geocaching.com label on it? Quote Link to comment
umc
yeah, they make tupperware keychains that would work well but you may have to make your own ammo can. Quote Link to comment
+ShaneN4Girls
Just label and hide an ammo can under the tree among the other presents - leave a log book and a gift for your wife in it. You could go so far as to make up a fake cache page and hand it and the GPSr to her Christmas morning. Quote Link to comment
Moun10Bike
One of our local cachers, UWdawg, found a source of miniature ammo boxes that would be perfect for Christmas ornaments. He turned several of them into Travel Bugs, the first of which was Mini Cache #1. He unfortunately doesn't have a photo of them on the Travel Bug pages, but I would estimate that they are about 2.5" x 1.25" x 0.5". You might want to try contacting him for a source. They look to be made as accessories for action figures, so you might also try searching for toy suppliers. Edited November 20, 2003 by Moun10Bike Quote Link to comment
+DevilDucks
Along the lines of what Moun10Bike said, I know my husband has some teenie tiny ammo cans that he uses with his "war models". He buys them from a local hobby shop. There are different sizes to account for the scale of the models. I know its an old tradition to have a small pickle ornament hidden somewhere on the tree, and the one who finds it gets some sort of small present or gets to be the first in line to open presents. This could easily be changed to whomever finds the ammo can in caching households! New tradition! (my pickle got broken last year in the-dog-tried-to-climb-the-tree incident anyways) DevilDucks Quote Link to comment

+9Key
Thinking "outside the box" , UsMorrows of Houston came up with an interesting idea. Originally, a limited number of handmade angels were hung in the trees around the cache location. If you can find a secure location, I think this is a neat idea. Quote Link to comment

cutsandbruises
I just talked to my husband who is a big time minature modeler. He said they make plastic ammo cans to be used as accessories with GI Joe. I suggest you head on over to your nearest Toys R Us... They are just plastic and I can't reccommend them for use as a real cache in real world weather situations, but as Christmas ornaments... why not!!! Quote Link to comment

SLCDave
You could use a Decon container, and they come with their own clip for use in hanging. Quote Link to comment
+Squirrel Nut & Beersnob
:Better question is where she would get an ammo-can sized Christmas tree? Michael's or Joann's. Or any other self-respecting craft store. Edited November 20, 2003 by Squirrel Nut & Beersnob Quote Link to comment
