+sjs102
We were talking about caching at a party over the 4th and a question came up about were there many caches lost in the fires out west. Not having a clue thought we'd post it here and see if anyone knows. Quote Link to comment
+Csquared
Here in AZ, we still can't get back in the forest to check. I'm pretty sure this one, Scary, is gone. The Bullock fire, on Mt Lemmon outside Tucson, reportedly crossed the road right where this cache is located. It was in a plastic jug, can't imagine it survived the heat. Last night we had a thunderstorm move through, hopefully it will be the start of a good soaking monsoon season out here. Csquared - Tim & Karen Quote Link to comment
+sjs102
Hope you get the rain. From the pictures we see on the news back here it looks pretty bad, which is what brought up the subject to start with. Quote Link to comment

+Qaz
As far as I have seen we didn't lose any caches in Colorado,.. and hopefully never will to a fire! Quote Link to comment
+SummitCachers
Although I'm not aware of any caches lost, there are quite a few caches in the Pike National Forest, which has been closed to hikers for a couple of months. We've been stymied several times this summer by "Forest Closed" signs. Quote Link to comment

+The Pootyheads
Hey SummitCachers! I read your post in the forum and am happy to report that the Pike National Forest is now open with limited closures in burn areas. This link, Forest Re-openswill take you to the Forest Service page with detailed info. So now, feel free to hunt the 'Amazing Ayla Cache'. (Couldn't resist the shameless plug) Quote Link to comment
+makaio
But fairly certain it will survive even if the fire roars past as it's in a boulder field - no trees or brush within hundreds of feet. Mr McGrew Haven't checked today, but the fire was within a mile or two yesterday. - Quote Link to comment
Tahosa and Sons
Well I had to archive several that were in the path of a fire. And curtail any activites in that area until it is open again. Then I will and go see if any thing is left. (http://wildfires.nwcg.gov/colorado/bigelk/index.shtml The "Bushwhacker" Exitus acta probat >>---> Quote Link to comment
