ju66l3r
Hey, I knew my stupid poll on which abbreviation for "the other website" was going to be deleted. It was antagonistic on purpose. This thread isn't, though. It's an honest question and idea for consideration. I had a thought (especially for those who wouldn't be going out of their way to get deleted)...maybe e-mail should be sent to the person you have just censored and drop them a small note describing which rule was broken so that they wouldn't be offended and would probably do better next time. It's a little kinder and gentler than the current trend of mysterious disappearances of the topics lately. In fact, what *most* message boards do is to delete all responses and edit the topic-starting comment to read something like "this thread has been deleted because it broke rules AEIOU and sometimes Y". Just a thought, since I'm not actually sure what part of the TOS or Forum Guidelines the "no-discussing-N" deletion binge really falls under...which still hasn't quite been outlined for me yet. And no, this isn't 360...I'm in Boston, you can check my caching. Quote Link to comment
umc
the "stupid" thing about the poll is that people were missing the point. I thought that was the funniest part. Great suggestions on the other stuff and I think that its a good idea to send email as long as the thread isn't deleted by mistake Locking a thread is favored over deleting for the reasons you suggested. __________________________ Caching without a clue.... +Snoogans
Take a look at J66l3r & 360's entries on the same page of this thread. That is one reason that I asked my question. Keystone
Thanks for the constructive suggestion, phrased politely. I'll be sure to discuss it with the other forum moderators. BTW, I was not the one who deleted your forum thread. I did read it, though. Could I offer a constructive suggestion? (And please, don't take offense, I am not trying to lecture or pick on you, Ju66l3r... it's meant for a wider audience.) This post was much nicer than the thread I locked. Try doing what I do... think before you post and read over your post before pressing the button. When angry, count to ten or take a break or whatever. I can't tell you how many times I've edited a post after coming back to it, or simply pressed the X button to let it disappear, never to be read in the forums. I am especially careful to do this when deciding whether moderator action is really necessary. When posting under my player account, I have exceeded the boundaries of good taste, or flamed people, from time to time. It happens to all of us. But since I've started using the "think.... write.... re-read.... edit.... post" method, it happens less often. Your ideas are fine and I do not wish to censor them. Please just express them constructively as you have done above. Thanks! -------------------- Signal says, "Drink the Kool-Aid!" Quote Link to comment

The other just seemed like an outright challenge to the moderators... if not intended that way, I understand, but, still, that's how it would have been taken if I were an admin. +Greenback
You can also post a note instead of a find so that you can record a TB entry. You could then delete the note, I've done that as note has served it's purpose. Quote Link to comment
umc
You can delete both. Go to a found cache page of yours along with a found TB page of yours. You will have delete, edit and permantely encrypt options. __________________________ Caching with a clue.... Quote Link to comment

+Cooter13
Another thought on posting when in an argument, debate definition, is to write in a word processing program, proof read, spell check and grammer check. Then cut and paste into the this little box and send away. I do this because spelling is not one of my strong suits. BTW, great ideas and a wonderful constructive thought process for all that have posted. It sounds like a few people have read Dale Carnige's "How to Win Friends and Influence People".
