Custom titles...

As a subscriber you can now modify your title to whatever you want, as long as it is in good taste. So if you want to be a charter member and remain anonymous, just change your title to Geocacher.

Thanks for the great suggestion. I like it! I still have to modify the profile page the same way. It will take a bit longer to do.

The forums are cached, so if a topic is updated, all of your posts will be updated.

Try editing it again. There was a problem with how the info was passed back to OpenTopic.

Note that Jeremy started this thread with the comment:

So I'd say that yeah, its only for those that subscribed to the charter membership.

As it was the 'Charter Member' title that upset some, this custom title is the solution Jeremy offered to that complaint. Its not applicable to those that didn't have 'Charter Member' as a title.

No it wasn't the title that upset people, it was the fact tha it created a two tier "paid and not paid system" that was there for all to see.

So now it's even more elitist than it was before.

Aw, well that's life I guess. Some will always be more equal than others.

Why can't everyone change their title?

Please look at my post again... See where I said the title was what upset some?

Perhaps it was a two tiered system that upset you, but I don't think you can categorically claim that the two-tier system is what upset ALL.

Because like Jeremy said, there are enhanced features that come with being a member. If everyone could do everything, then there would be no difference between members and non-members. Now, that may be what you in fact want, but it is after all Jeremy's site.

Members and non-members aren't supposed to be equal...

Jeremy,

100 pills of 100mg Zoloft is $142.07 ...

Just in case you had any possible reason for maybe needing to take a mood altering drug. icon_smile.gif

Yes. And I made a way that you can conceal the fact of whether you paid or not, thereby removing the "paid and not paid" percieved system of "haves" and "have nots". I also indicated I will give you the option to remove the Charter Membership icon from your profile page.

People who support the site will get added perks. If you want to call $3/mo membership elitist, then fine. It's elitist. Time to end the discussion. Obviously I'm not going to satisfy everyone.
