Totally Disgusted (NOT FOR THE KIDS)

Well I just read a new log entry (July 9) for one of my caches and have become very disappointed with a certain cacher! And I feel this type of behavior (the photos) is wayyyyy out of line. I am very interested in hearing your opinions. Should I leave this photo in the log? If you look at the profile for this cacher you will see other examples (much worse).

Forgot to note that I have emailed TPTB.

I don't see anything wrong with the log. The photo isn't exactly pornographic, but it is in somewhat poor taste considering the audience. I'd say delete the photo if you don't like it.

Now about his photo for his other find that day on the Escape Pod Kilo cache. Uggggh. I think that's the reason clothing was invented!

It's obvious that this guy has an agenda. All I can say is that if he plans on geocaching like this all the time, I'm buying stock in the manufacturer of DEET. He's gonna be using a lot of it!

Would you be more accepting if it was a voluptuous female?

The picture I saw did not show any private parts. I don't care about pictures, I would be more upset if I encountered that in person.

I also don't like the idea of a naked butt (and everything you can catch from it) on a public bench.

One of the other caches he found did. It looks to me that he is trying to make more of a nudist statement than a geocaching statement. I bet TPTB will at least pull the total nude shot.

I agreee the photo on my cache page is not all that offensive but you should reall look at the other offerings by this cacher and ask yourself (is this appropriate). Here is an assist to get you thinking. Be warned this is full frontal nudity!

(From Mrs. Last Lap) I LOVE the picture! I say leave it. I don't see the slightest thing wrong with it. I don't find it offensive, not even to children. A happy, relaxed, confident man sitting on a bench with a geocache. I find my stress going, just as I look at it! I looked at his profile, and even the links to the websites are tastefully done. I would love to Geocache Nude, but the bugs would be my only deterrent. A mosquito bite on your ear is bad, but I can think of worse places!!

I reported this thread to the admins for their review. My first thought was about the negative publicity geocaching will surely receive when this person is seen or arrested during one of his "photo sessions" at a cache. And photos of full frontal nudity on this web site without warnings and other measures to prevent viewing by minors could expose geocaching.com to legal proceedings they would rather avoid.

I have to agree with those that believe he should not post pictures. If where he is, it’s legal to geocache that way, then there’s not much to say. However, the agenda in his log posts is clear. And this is a Family sport/game and I have issues with people playing politics while they are suppose to be playing a game.

He and his member need to not be in pictures.

His logs should also be sanitized. Links to Nude gatherings and such are just slightly off topic.. JMHO

While some won't find full frontal nudity offensive, some will, and of course there are those who would rather not run across this guy when out with small children. The pictures should not have been posted on any website without permission. Rude. No thought at all for others feelings.

Well, before I checked out the forums this morning I went into chat and was asked if I had seen this yet. The first picture I was "exposed" to was the full frontal and I was a tad upset. What if he posts this kind of picture on Little Sally Cacher's cache. Nudists have a time and place and gc.com is not the time or the place. I certainly wouldn't want to run into this guy in the woods or neighborhood park! So for Pete's sake put some clothes on and stop posting your picture nudecacher! Children play here!

Bad picture on another cache he did yesterday.

That needs deleting immediatly.

Our cache webpages should probably be monitored everyday, for bad content.

www.adultcaching.com does not exist, but pictures like the two i saw should be kept off of public websites, like this.

was the other cache owner notified of the bad posting??

GotGPS, I'm sure he was as soon as he got the e-mail telling him "nudecacher has logged a find on your cache" Whether he went and looked I don't know. I would delete any such picture from my caches that's for sure.

A few timely e-mails to TPTB can take care of issues like that. That's why they call them TP. Either that or the cache owner saw it and was offended enough to promptly remove it.

I've seen more erotic teddy bears on downy commercials.

The guy seems to be handeling nudity more or less as god intended.

Nothing pornographic. Nothing Sexy. Nothing showing that you can't see on the beach, or at a volley ball game at a picknick.

It's your cache though. You are certainly free to request he delete the photo.

It's the guy who hangs out in the bushes imitating Ace Ventura during one of his magic moments that's going to bother me.

Just read the additinal comments on full frontal. That's not at all appropriate to post in your logs. He should stick to the strategic photos that let you know that yes he's butt naked but no you are not inflicted with it.

Link to comment

I have mixed feelings on it all...first of all it's your cache page and if you feel something is inappropriate, then by all means remove it. The first photo was not bad. The second one was removed by the time we went to look at it. But how many of us went to look at it when we were warned ahead of time? If it shows actual nudity, then yes I say it shouldn't be there. If remarks on the cache pages are inappropriate, then yes they shouldn't be there. Briansnat mentioned that even the guys website is tastefully done. I went to look at it. How many else did as well? I think that guy and some of his friends will argue that nudism is a family event as well. icon_biggrin.gif

Nothing more on there than you will see on tv. Look at any primetime show today. Even PBS will show things worse than that from time to time.

Greetings,

Personally, your strategic photos are fine in my book, but after posting them on this web site I have been deluged with emails about them. Some folks don't have the same sensibilities you have about nudity, so I respectfully request that you no longer upload nudist photos to the web site. It's really appreciated. I only have so much time in the day and we already receive plenty of general email to keep me busy.

from looking at some of his logs, it appears that he also leaves nudist promotional material in some caches. Here is a quote form one of his logs:

quote:
July 7 by Nude Cacher (nudecacher) (9 found)

Met two young ladies with their dog sitting on the bench in front of the cache. One recognized my Magellan GPS unit and had heard of geocaching. They were anxious to help us find the cache, which we went right to following the directions in the clues. I exchanged one of my American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) Nude Recreation Week July 7-13 buttons for the Educating Kids is everybody's business, Vote Yes April 23rd button. :-) AANR's web site is at http://www.aanr.com/ and their phone number is 1-800-try-nude, which is easy to remember.

I figure that if someone wants to cache nude, that is his or her own business, but I would be uncomfortable with someone leaving nudist promotional materials in one of my caches. If I found such material in a cache, I would remove it.

I didn't get to see the photos. If things were strategically hidden from view, I would have left the photo, but full frontal nudity? I would remove that since some people could be offended by it.

The funny thing is that more people saw his posts and pictures by it being put here on the forums than it normally would of received...lol

Not to mention that his website now has received lots of visits....perhaps some cachers are now thinking of joining his group... icon_biggrin.gif

I looked before the warning. I was curious about his other logs. The full frontal shot was (how can I say?), quite revealing.

My never humble opinion is geocaching shouldn't be used to promote ANYONE'S agenda, and it seems quite obvious this guy has one.

<Mopar waves to Nude Cacher, who is reading the forums as I type this, PLEASE be careful with what you wave back with!>

We've seen other people use this game to push software, promote their webstore, and try and convert people to a new religion. Usually once they understand that sort of thing isn't accepted here, they stop and continue to enjoy geocaching like the rest of us, or just go away. I hope nude cacher continues to cache, it looks like his one hide has some awesome views, but please, drop the agenda. Those of us that might enjoy your type of recreation and photography already know about it, and those that are offended are not going to suddenly change because they saw your photos or found a brochure.

We only want opinions that agree with our narrow world view. Nude recreation is family oriented but has been hidden behind large gates in the past. I respect your strong convictions, and have no issue with you indicating your interests. But we do ask that any posts not contain marketing materials. Geocaching wasn't created as a tool to promote any specific agenda, except to encourage folks to get out more. Whether you're wearing clothes is your business.

Uhmmm, sorry.... I don't think you will get THAT wish here.

Posting your "narrow world view" in a public forum is gonna net you everyone's opinion, not just the ones that agree with yours. Attempting to force that "narrow world view" on other people usually has the opposite effect you desire.

Gag me...

That is just revolting. I saw the nudie kids camp article..gross. Just what I want my kids to see....NOT. Just shipped my kids off to religous camp, not nudie camp.

I had a joker post a phalic sand sculpture pic and offensive user names on my cache page. Sorry...I don't go by the constitution on my cache page. I deleted it. Jeremy at Geocache was super helpful to me on this one also.

I like the family friendly nature of the geocachers I have spoke to. I like the family friendly nature of spending time with my hubby and kids in the woods and not in front of a TV.

I am only interested in my husband's body and NO ONE elses.

Keep your nudie agenda to yourself. I keep my religous agenda to myself also.

A while back a beautiful woman jumped out of her car across the street from my office.Butt naked. She stood in front of a gun store. A guy jumped out and took some pictures of her. They jumped back in the car and left.

There is some nudie web site that is into paying people for the most unusual place/picture and they post them on their web site.

But back to the original Q...I look at every post on my cache like suggested and edit if need be.

While I agree with your right to go freestyle and would probably defend your right to go freestyle, this is not the place for it. No advertising! And no posting nude pictures where children can see them. Plain and simple. If parents want their children to be exposed to nudity the parents will take care of that. Not some stranger in a family friendly forum. I hope you understand. It's not narrow mindedness. I've met nudists, and sure wish they had told me they were nudists before inviting me to their home, where they promptly stripped down to their birthday suits! It would have been nice to be forewarned! Talk about uncomfortable!

Nude Cacher, congratulations on being yourself and doing what you enjoy.

I have cached nude before also. It is a great experience. There aren't many places in town to be clothes-free, but the forest is a different matter.

Obviously, some people have an issue with nudity and we can't change that. Many people think nudity and sex go hand in hand. That couldn't be further from the truth. Don't change your beliefs about nudity just because others don't agree with you.

The issue at hand is really this whole 'agenda' thing. Placing brochures in caches is frowned upon. It doesn't matter if the brochure comes from a church or a restaurant or AANR. Geocaching is a non-commercial activity. It's also ok to have a link in your signature line that will take someone to your personal webpage. It's not okay to advertise a business, even if it isn't your own.

Pictures of you at a cache site are fine as long as they don't reveal too much.

To summarize, cache nude all you want. If someone wants to find out why you are called 'Nude Cacher' they can find out by reading your profile. You can post the nude pictures on your own web page.

I had to laugh about this! Not about the pictures, which I luckily didn't have to see, but by what was written in some of his logs.

I checked his finds and read some of the logs. Apparently he keeps leaving some kind of nudist group button or pin. Now why the heck would a nudist want to be wearing a button?!?!? Where the heck would they pin the thing?!?!?

Hmmm... Would you go so far then as to tolerate those whom you consider intolerant? Will you tolerate those who choose to not share your mantra? Should there be a limit to tolerance, i.e. is there anything that should be considered intolerable?

Nudity is outlawed in most public places just as consentual sex is. Unless the caches he posed at were located in places permitting public nudity, Nude Cacher was breaking the law and flaunting photos to prove it. There is no virtue in tolerating it.

There are degrees of nudity? Seems to me you're either nude or you're wearing (at least some) clothes. Not a lot of gray areas there.

I just suddenly remembered the You Write The Caption thread involving a pic of a nude cacher.

Anyway, I don't care if someone wants to go nude caching. I don't even mind innocent remarks in the logs, such as the remark about the bugs. But I don't like to see caching used to push an agenda. Especially if that agenda might be offesive to a number of people. So I say keep caching nude all you want, but consider toning down the logs and pictures and don't leave nudist items in the caches.
