Dodecahedral Jar

Mama mia, this is one good–looking way to store good–looking pasta. The 12–sided jar is clear glass, 13” tall x 4” dia, with a spring closure on its gasketed glass lid. If you use it for pickled banana peppers instead of pasta, you can store 2–1/4 quarts of them. Plenty of pasta –– or peppers –– we think.

We tested out a bunch of similarly-shaped containers for use in our planted aquariums' DIY CO2 systems. Briefly, you use the container to mix yeast and sugar with water, and the resulting CO2 bubbles help the plants grow. We were looking for the most air/water-tight container, shaped thusly. The test: Fill it with water, hold it upside down.

The Tupperware spaghetti pasta container kicked butt over any of the WalMart, Target or Fred Meyer stuff we found. Unfortunately none of that stuff is truly water/air-tight since it lacks the rubber gasket/glass seal that Criminal's jar.

They're essentially old-fashioned canning jars, yes.
