What do you do for a living?

I presently do hard manual labor. I install commercial vehicle upgrades and accessories. Anything from winches to ladder racks, alarm systems, truck bedliners, police lightbars and strobes, grille guards, trailer hitches, electronic brake controllers, camper tops, tonneau covers, hydraulic liftgates, laptop mounts, sirens, toolboxes, ladder racks, bulkheads, shelves, freon tank mounts, fog lights, 12V to 120V inverters, door post lights, commercial logo decals, conduit carriers and much more.

There isn't much chance for advancement, but it doesn't pay very well. icon_biggrin.gif

Substitute School Bus Driver. I have cache finds all times of the day, just not at night. Not much night caching when you have to get up at (shudder) 0400 to be at work by (groan) 0500. But with a two hour split(lunch) in the middle of the morning, I have got some then. Most after work or weekends. Some during work, but not with kids! I have shown some students about geocaching - don't know if it ever pans out though.

I'm an educational advisor at Kaplan Test Prep in New York, and while I usually work during the week, I do occasionally have the odd weekend or late weeknight shift.

My better half and I usually geocache on the weekends, but we've not gone out in a while mainly because we've had other weekend obligations for the past month or so. He's the one with the GPS unit (I've not had the change lying around recently to purchase one yet), so he will from time to time go out caching on his own.

I'm a trophy husband.

Have the time to cache during the day but mostly cache on the weekends or afternoons when we can do it as a family. Try and get out benchmarking during the day, the kids don't really enjoy that.

Love night caching/benchmarking.

What a diverse bunch of fabulous people we are!

My love is writing - I do a quarterly newsletter for an animal rescue group grant writing and other assorted fiction writing related nonsense.

Gotta pay the bills, though (all of them? waaahhh!) so I work FT for the great (nearly broke) State of Florida as a computer trainer for the local state attorney's office.

Also have this bizarre urge to do community theater and stand-up comedy *more like a sickness, really*....I do that every once in a blue moon (kinda like a werewolf that way....)

I'm caching when the weather's halfway decent. Writing when it's not - or when it's dark. I usually have to go caching alone (nobody gets it). Although both my mother and my daughter have gone with me in the past. So, I get the heebie-jeebies sometimes when I'm in a remote place and there's gators or freak-o's nearby...Can't imagine going in the dark! Brrrrr..I bring pepper spray (too chicken for a gun, 'fraid I'd shoot myself in foot or GPSr).

Matt works for a federal government agency in emergency operations. He is a former IT guy and former firefighter/paramedic. Julia is a part-time marketing director for a restaurant chain. We cache when the spirit moves us. Matt works 0700-1500, days varying, and Julia works from home.

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.---Matthew 13:44

I wish outer space guys would conquer the Earth and make people their pets, because I'd like to have one of those little beds with my name on it.

I work for the American Red Cross, in the Emergency Response Training Dept. We teach CPR, first aid, lifeguarding and much more. We also help prepare volunteers to go out in the filed and help at disaster sites. I love my job! Hope most of you can say that too!

I'm a weekender mostly, though I like to cache in the evenings. But the days are short this time of year. I am trepidatious about caching in public parks at night, since I seldom can find anyone to come along. Parks in this city are often populated by unsavory characters after dark. Many of them are 'designated pickle parks,' if you get my drift.

I try to Geocache two or three times a month, whenever I make time. Sometimes I use Geocaching as a stress relief. Nothing like an hour or two spent outdoors to help put things in perspective. Other times I Geocache with my wife. A fun way to spend time together just by ourselves. Sometimes I Geocache for no other reason than to have FUN.

I still wake up screaming from nightmares about my paramedic class!

I know I know. :P I am taking at a EMS education center that has been teaching the class for about 6 years now. They have a 96% pass rate. I figure the odds are for me. Plus I ended up with a 96% on my NREMT-B. I am anything but average people say. Thanks for the link, interesting. M-80 one. hhhhmmm He looked alive. I'd hate to have to intubate him. :o

I am an Electronics Technician for the QuikTrip Corporation. For those of you who don't know who QuikTrip is, they are a Convenience Store/Gas Station chain currently in 8 or 9 markets. When I am not working on the 238 computer that I have networked together, or working on the electronic tank monitors, I fix anything else that is broke in the store. This includes Coffee Pots, Cappuccino machines, soda fountain, frozen drink machines, ice makers, light fixtures, toilets and anything else my boss tells me to do.

And my name is because I am an Ordained Deacon at my Church.

I must have missed this thread when it first appeared a few months ago. I am an Investment Representative (aka Stockbroker, Financial Advisor, Capitalist Pig) with the largest brokerage firm in the U.S. (measured by the number of offices).

As I am the only broker in the office my hours are my own--if I want to get out and cache (and there are no appointments scheduled), I go. However, I mostly cache on the weekends so that the kids (OzMeg and OzIan) can come too.

Emergancy Medical Technition. Paramedic class starts friday.

I still wake up screaming from nightmares about my paramedic class! Good luck to ya! It's a LOT of hard work, but it's worth it. I've got some pics and stories from my days on the streets here that you might or might not find interesting. :o

OK, that M-80 thing was NOT cool. :P

I work for the US Army as a Information Specialist. That's a fancy way of saying that I serve as a subject matter expert on numerous tactical systems, both when interfacing with soldiers in the field or when working with software engineers during the development process. I do most of my caching on weekends, but sometimes I get to locate some during my official travel days.

"Oh, well, its a growth industry." GROSS POINT BLANK

I work in an industrial forge. We make parts for mainly the auto industry - gears in trannsmissions, hubs for wheels, kingpins for semis. Also some mining machinery parts. I started as a quality control inspector. I still maintain those duties, as well as having been given the same duties as a shift foreman to maintain as well - safety regs, press machinery & crew supervision, discipline, troubleshooting, blah bla blah.

The air is semi breathable. Its superheated steel, so extreme temp variations. Its very noisy, and there are tons of hazards to watch out for. AFLAC laughs at us if we ask about insurance. department heads constantly battle for power (read Dilbert, its more fact than you think) The union protects people who don't do their job. You get threatened when you shut down machines for defective parts, and wonder which co-worker will snap and go postal. We joke about not being able to hear gun shots in the place, but nobody laughs for real.

When do I cache ? Whenever I can. I love winter and night caching, but we have a 2 year old son, so its limited. Thats ok, my son makes everything worthwhile. By the way, times when I'm sarcastic, caustic, flippant - please don't take me to heart. My job makes me so tense sometimes, and these forums are a release.

To everyone who places lighthearted stories, jokes, and humor, you make my day.

I'm a self taught machinist for a small manufacturing plant in WI. Yes we need the business! I also work as a Health and Safety Instructor for the American Red Cross. American Red Cross This is my other "hobby" that I truly enjoy! I get to teach First Aid, CPR, Lifeguarding, and Water Safety to adults and children! However, the full time employment thing is what pays the bills!

I primarily go caching on the weekends but occasionally after work in the afternoon.
