+civilwarranger
Several virtual caches (AND Locationless caches) are in my area. In order to log the visit a picture of you with GPS at site is required. My problem is my pictures always are over the 100kb limit to download. Way over the limit. What am I doing wrong? I use my Sony digital Handycam still camera option. HELP! Quote Link to comment
+mrcpu
100 KB is (by this sites definition) around 97KB by your computer's calculations. www.irfanview.com This will help you resize and increase compression to get the size down. Rob Mobile Cache Command Quote Link to comment
+Theseus
I do one of two things. I either lower the resolution on the camera before I take it (my Sony still camera does this so I would guess your handycam does, too) or I upload the photo onto my computer and save the photo under a lower resolution. Hope this helps! Quote Link to comment
+CharlieP
Most picture editing software will allow you to resize a picture file and save it as a new file, e.g. from 1200x1800 pixels to 400x600. I find that sizes around 400x600 will usually be less than 100kb, but if not, the editor will also allow you to save the picture at a lower jpg quality setting, e.g. 60% instead of 100%. For posted pictures, the lower compression quality does not make a noticable difference. I prefer to take all pictures at high resolution, and then downsize as necessary, because you can't go the other way, and sometimes the hi res is needed. FWIW, CharlieP Quote Link to comment

So this may not be a problem in the future. Quote Link to comment
Eric O'Connor
Since nobody here's mentioned it, I'll just offer up "crop" as yet another option. Trim out the extra image-info on the sides. I use a 3 megapixel camera (DX3700) that usually puts out photos around 900k each. Between a crop, resize, and lowering of the resolution, I could trim it down to 20k or less if needed. You should have complete control over your output. I use Firehand's Ember for my photo work but love InfranViews price. (free) I've snapped about 7000 photos this year and don't even consider it my primary hobby. Digisnaps, not just for breakfast anymore. Quote Link to comment

+mrcpu
Ok try: http://irfanview.tuwien.ac.at/ Another neat feature is that when you press the letter T you get thumbnails. You then resize the window into the orientation you would like in a web page, select the pictures you want using the Control key and mouse and then click file->Save HTML!!! Voila Instant web page for your pictures. Rob Mobile Cache Command Quote Link to comment
