Multi-stage cache

I'd like to hide a multi-stage cache. Please share you experience and ideas ...

The obvious way to do this would be to simply leave the co-ordinates of the second cache in the first, but this seems a bit boring.

I've seen other concepts mentioned, like going to a location to find tips, e.g. the number of the house at this location is for arguments sake the degrees. Another idea was locations that you had to intersect etc.

I just hid a multi-stage cache today. I used a simple HTML table to help make the multiple waypoints a bit more clear. Check it out here: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=2072

One problem with tables - it is hard to get them to look right in all browsers. If it doesn't look right, you might have to reduce your font size or increase your display resolution.

P>The table looks great! I had just finished printing out the page for tomorrows search when I saw your post! I like that you put space to write the clues down. I'll see how much grumbling I do after tomorrow.

I've hidden 2 multi-stage caches.

The first cache, Man vs. Nature (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=1840), is a pretty basic multi-stage cache. That is, the first two caches simply have coordinates that lead to the next cache. However, the terrain of the park is somewhat varied, so it takes cachers to places they wouldn't otherwise see/know about. As *something* to make the first two caches more interesting, we included quotes on the subject of "Man vs. Nature" on the cards that have the coordinates (you can see a sample card at http://pages.prodigy.net/bjbest/geocaching/firstcard/firstcard.html). Overall, I think this setup is pretty successful, you get to do more hunting without having to go to a completely new location.

The other cache is the St. Louis Arch Virtual Cache (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=2029), which isn't technically a multi-stage cache, but you need to figure out the coordinates in a manner similar to what's been discussed. I don't know how well this setup works--no one has logged in yet.

Regarding the geocache that I and my friend Chad placed (Henry, Virgil, Nelson, Gabriel, Tryon - ID=1990)... So far we've had one failure and one success. We've never really done a complex multi-waypoint cache like this before, so if anyone else has done a similar thing in a different way or has an idea to make a future cache even more interesting, I'd love to hear it on this thread.

BTW, Uplink: I really like your table that you made. *Excellent* format. If Chad and I do a complex multi-waypoint in the future, I anticipate us using your format.

I just hid the following multi-waypoint cache yesterday and I suspect the Exocet gang will descend upon it in no time icon_smile.gif I'm anxious to get feedback to verify my clues and math are correct.

While not as widespread as others (all coords within a single park), it forces the seekers to hit various 'cool spots' within the park that I and my family really enjoy.

btw, I agree with Exo about the table - good work.
