The Artful Dodger Posted April 1, 2003 Share Posted April 1, 2003 Correct me if I am wrong, but logic dicates that regardless of how many satellites there are out there, your trusty little Garmin GPS still receives a maximum of 12 satellites and the accuracy remains the same. Kerry. Posted April 1, 2003 Share Posted April 1, 2003 Improve GPS accuracy, NO not really but every additional IIR is a refinement over older IIA's in many regards. The more satellites, better accuarcy thing is basically a myth as it ain't necessarily so. GPS IIR-9 (SVN 45) will actually "share" the same plane/slot (D3) as SVN#17. SVN 17 was the fifth block II Sat launched in Dec 1989 so is certainly getting on in years and a little past its design life. Cheers, Kerry.
