Life span of urban caches?????

My daughter placed her first cache today with great pride and sneakyness. It is in close to many houses and kids . I had wanted a more hidden place , that would be harder to find... but she wanted it close to the house so that it could be checked over every few days. How long can I expect it to last there ??? I do have a backup plan... if it gets discovered I will place a sign there showing a more hidden location nearby... thereby saving the fun for people if they make the trip.

ught, and still think). It was on a public pier in the SF Bay!

But two weeks later, all that's left is the lid of the ammobox! Now, it's still something of a viable cache, I feel, as there's still something to find-- but don't underestimate the casual and uninterested prying eyes of the public. They get curious fast.
