Joe St. Louis Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 I just got my GPS and have been trying it out in back of my house. I set a way point there and try to go back and often can't get closer than 25-30 feet. Am I doing something wrong? What should you expect to get? Joe Quote
+welch Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 The 'cheap' handheld GPSr are always going to have some error. If you have averaging you might try that. The error will go up under heavy cover, and down in open areas, but 10-20ft is pretty common. Quote
Jomarac5 Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 When placing a waypoint you might find it beneficial to let your receiver 'settle out' first by leaving it in the same spot for ten minutes or so. This usually results in better accuracy. Quote
+Renegade Knight Posted February 23, 2003 Posted February 23, 2003 18 - 28 feet or so is normal. Less is not as common. More isn't that common either. Wherever you go there you are. Quote
