+Pat in Louisiana
When in Map mode do you prefer Track up or North up Pat in Louisiana I never get lost. I simply investigate alternate destinations. Quote Link to comment
+BrownMule & Jackrabbit
I track up when in goto mode. I usually track north up otherwise. Just my preference. Enjoy the Outdooors. BrownMule Quote Link to comment

+Jamie Z
I prefer track up, but on my Meridian Gold, the map screen doesn't seem to update fast enough in this mode, so I usually keep it in north up while I'm driving, and if I remember I change it to track up if I'm hiking or biking. +WaylandersMA
with a compass around my neck. The only time I do track up is if I am retracing my track in the car on a road with a lot of curves. Zoom in and you can pretend it is a video game. But keep eyes on road! Quote Link to comment

+TresOkies
It's nice knowing that the GPS is oriented the same way I am in track up mode, but I can't stand for the display to be updated all the time. This is on the color StreetPilot III. When I'm searching for a cache in a park area, I set it to point the arrow in the direction I want to go and I don't care about the orientation. If I had topo maps loaded, I might use track up. -E -- N35°32.981 W98°34.631 Quote Link to comment
vinced
Tack up Makes it easier for my the know what is coming up without having to figure out which way I'm traveling on the map. Vince KD5NVO 0H/6F Quote Link to comment
+Breaktrack
Too many years in the Boy Scouts and the U. S. Military, too used to all the maps being north up. I actually orient better with the north up and being able to see it from a familiar perspective... lol. Quote Link to comment

mcb
Track up when driving so I turn the correct way. Nothings worst then looking at a north up map while headed south and turning the wronge way because you brain can't turn the map around in your head. Now when on foot I go north up. Moving that slow the map doesn't alway orient it self real well to my direction of travel and if it is north up I can use my compass to orient it and myself. Just don't get the compass to close to the GPS the batteries will throw your compass off. mcb Quote Link to comment

+CacheCows
North Up Are you aware that on most GPSRs, Track Up will run your batteries down faster due to all the screen redraws? If I really need to orient myself to the cache position, I just rotate the whole GPSR so that the track is up. Member: Quote Link to comment
+Sea_Dog
I've always been a track up kind of guy. After reading all the reasons for North up I think I'll give it a try. Quote Link to comment
+martinp13
North Up while driving, Track Up while walking. Though I usually forget to put it back in North Up and almost hit something while driving because the map is doing loops. > Martin (Magellan 330) Don't have time to program and record your shows while geocaching?
