Syn
If I am caching out of state or way out of my area, and the location of the cache is compromised somehow. I.E. Aliens saw me digging through it and are hanging out in the area waiting for me to leave so they can see can get a closer look at what I was doing. I would take the cache and leave it at the next cache hunt I did. If I am in another state I see no way for me to be able to get back to the area to replace the cache. I would not want my cache to be plundered by non-geocachers and would appreciate a cacher doing that. Sure it is an inconvenience to me to have to go retrieve the cache from another location. But I would love to get the email telling me what has been done. What would you do? Any other suggestions for what people can do if they accidentaly compromise a cache? Quote Link to comment
+Bear and Ting
.... and I did not move the cache. I finished what I was doing, scoping out the area. When I replaced the cache, I moved off a short distance and watched (I like people watching anyway). This alien did indeed approach the cache. I inncoently returned mumbling that "I forgot to mention this in the log book" or something like that. Anyway, the alien was suprised to see me return. He asked what all this stuff was and I explained it to him. He had not heard of the game, but his girlfriend (who was sick and tired of getting lost when he drove) had given him a GPS. He thought it sounded like fun and is now a convert. Now, not every alien will convert. But I think that most would understand and not plunder the cache when it is explained to them. Give aliens a chance, they are people too. Geocachers don't NEED to ask for directions! Quote Link to comment

+Snowtrail
I have been out of state. If there are people around, I skip the cache. I'd rather miss finding a cache rather than cause it to become missing. Quote Link to comment
