GPS technology behind NASCAR broadcasts?

If you've seen any Nascar races over the past couple of years, you probably have noticed how they have realtime tracking of a car's location on the track, speed, distance from other cars, etc. Of course a lot of this data comes from GPS based technology, but I haven't been able to find out much detailed info about the systems/software that they use.

Just wondering if anyone has any inside info.

Very basic description of what I'm talking about.

Well, I heard that the company I used to work for had a BIG hand in creating the software that is used in NASCAR broadcasts to follow and identify the cars on the track.

They also do the 3D graphics that re-create cityscapes for use on a lot of news broadcasts.

They also were behind the HDTV presentation of the Masters Golf Tournaments....

I searched the site, but couldnt find anything on the NASCAR stuff, though....

I worked for the Tactical RF products division....I think the Broadcast Division is the one involved with the TV stuff. They are a big name in Digital TV transmitting equipment and software.
