+J&FErickson
I have a Princeton Tec Aurora which I purchased at REI. The light is almost perfect for what I use it for - the problem is (and it's a big one) that the on/off switch is easily bumped in a pocket or backpack and when I go to use it, the battery is dead. Have to keep it in a hard case. Quote Link to comment
+jpthegeek
I bought a 3-LED Energizer headlamp from Target for $14 and it hasn't failed me yet. Takes 3 triple A's. Works great. May not be quite as rugged as a Petzel or something like it, but for a third of the cost...can't really lose. Quote Link to comment
SuperAlpha
I have a few different ones. But the energizer one at Wally World for $12.50 is great for night time geocaching! I also carry an Inova X5 ($39.99) 5 LED tactical light. It comes with Blue, Red, Green, and White LED options. Quote Link to comment
Team VaxCave
I'd love a headlamp but I've found they don't put out the amount of light I'd like. I tried one that The Leprechauns let me borrow and I really liked it in close proximity, but it requires a "side arm" flashlight as well. I use a Porter Cable 869. Check it out here. ::+::=::+::=::+::=::+::=::+::=::+::=::+::=::+::=::+::=::+::=::+::=::+:: Searching through the cave. Team VaxCave. Quote Link to comment
+RobRee
i use a black diamond moonlight here as a LED hea1dlamp. 4 LEDS, 3 brightness settings on low it will last 170 hours on 3 AAA batts. on high 70 hours. lightweight, and built nice. for lots of light.. look into halogen, krypton/led combos. try them out. look at the settings, and functions on them. you want to be able to switch to 1 led or 2 leds if your batteries go dim. that way you will always have light. always carry a decent pack light too. led flashlights and lithium lights are a good source of backup light. i also carry a military strobe. 20$ if you look for it.. in case!! -----robbie A family that Geocaches together... eventually gets wet. required reading My first bible Great Orienteering Site!
