i keep a record book that has the info for several fairly close caches. i have them all cliped into a 3 ring binder, anyways i hadnt updated the thing for about 2 months and tonight i started going threw it. i had to add about 10 to the 80some already in it, anyways in the front i have "table of contents" listing the cache name range and who placed it.

the odd thing is that the ranges have changed for the ones i had listed, i know i used the same zip and theres not way that all 80+ have been moved by their owners, so has there been anywork on the seeker that could have messed this up?? most have only shifted like .25 to .5 miles, but a few have moved almost 2 miles, changing the order,(there listed from closest to farthest). anyone elase noticed this?? null icon_confused.gif

I think Jeremy posted something recently about new zip code data base. That could have something to do with the distances changing. Also something about new maps in the last couple of months. I'd guess that one or both of those upgrades is to blame.

I remember seeing something about a change in the zipcode search (it was updated to include newer zipcodes that didn't previously work). I also notice that it now lists the city name when it finds the matches for a zipcode.

I'm guessing that the updated zipcode database also included corrections to the "center of town" locations for certain zipcodes. Yours was probably adjusted slightly, which would affect the distance to the nearby caches.

Welch,

the previous replies have given you the reason for the shift. If you want to prevent a recurrence the next time the database changes, just use a fixed set of coordinates (such as where you live) instead of a zipcode when defining your search area.
