Definitely not geocaching, but...

Went and saw the movie for the third time last night so I could see the trailer. Did look pretty good, but I've heard they deviated from the books even more (I'm a Tolkien Purist (Ie Tolkien geek, I've read the books about 2X a year for the past 12 or so years). That being said the trailer did look pretty good, it's being played at the end of the lord of the rings movie so go check it out.

Mikechim,

Figure this is a good place to plug my The Fellowship of the Ring

cache again, the two towers and return of the king will be put out after their respective movies are out, all 3 along with DX's Hobbit cache will be part of the Tolkien Quilt cache project.

When I saw the movie, it was an ok movie and all. Maybe even a great move, but it was dull. I don't mean dull like the average chick flick is to a guy but un original. When I saw Star Wars for the first time I remember being excited in discovering an entire new universe. Everything was new and original. With the Lord of the Rings nothing can make up for the fact that I read the books and the movie no matter how good is like watching a re-run. If only they would take the time to make a new original movie every bit as good as Tolkein, Lucas or whever it may be. That's my 2 cents. I'll probably buy this movie on DVD and the DVD player (I've been holding out) to play it on. I do have kids, and they have never seen it. For them is is all new and original.

RK,

Hmmm.. while I can't argue your point about Lord of the Rings as I haven't read the book. I did enjoy the movie--one of the very few movies I have ever truly enjoyed...

but that's not my point. I'm here to offer a differing opinion about a movie not being able to come be interesting if you already know the story. What about Apollo 13? That movie captivated me. I was caught up in the disaster hoping and wishing they would make it home, yet in my mind I knew darn well how it all came out. Apollo 13, in my opinion, took a well known story, stuck almost completely straight to the facts, and still managed to be one of the best movies I've ever seen.

What irked my about Lord of the Rings was the quality of the film. There were some bad edits, and some of the scenes looked like they'd been produced with very dated equipment. I enjoyed the adventure and the story, but some of the scenes looked awfully fake, and the scene transitions were sometimes very rough.

I liked it ... but I have to admit I loved some of the bloopers ... like the car going by in the background of the scene where Frodo and Sam were leaving ... in the field with the scarecrow ... and the last part of the movie where the two large statues have the same arm raised when seen in the front view and opposite arms raised when viewed from behind. icon_biggrin.gif
