Cool cache container...'The Sportsman's Stump"

Popped in the Commerce, MI (Metro Detroit) Frank's Nursery and Crafts, and saw "The Sportsman's Stump"... gotta be one of the coolest pre-made cache containers available. They had them on display with Christmas items, some stuffed Santas were sitting on top of the stumps. With a few minor modifications, it would be just about perfect... Frank's is selling it for $20.

The only place online (quick search) I could find a pict of it was at:

Could be the perfect thing to ask for on the holidays! (Don't forget, Wed. is usually Senior Discount Day @ Franks!)

It was fairly lightweight, and alone might not stay put in high winds. The outside bottom was concave, so you might be able to jerryrig a bag of sand/fill with cement and nail on another 'bottom'. Or just place it in the crook of large branches of a fallen tree, that should hold it in place....

There are a few caches out there that were made from 5 gallon buckets, sprayed with "STUFF" (the expanding insulation) and painted to look like stumps. Usually, they end up looking like a tree with a bizarre fungus growing on it.

This looks much more realistic. Maybe a 16 pound shot put in the bottom would keep the fake stump in place... icon_wink.gif

I picked one up this weekend. A tube of caulk to fill the handle holes and some apoxy to hold a 5 pound weight to the bottom and its ready to go. Thanks for the info !!! This will be a fun one to hide. I need to think of some good clues.
