danEboy
Great article on CNN regarding a GPS in professional hands. Saved the lives of Nine miners. http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/07/28/mine.turning.point/index.html Good people and good equipment. Dan Quote Link to comment
Zuckerruebensirup
$60,000 and accurate to within less than a centimeter. {drooling} As much fun as it is using my GPSr to find happy meal toys, it's definitely great to see equipment like this used for something so noble. I can see his log now. "Took the nine miners, and left a golf ball." ------- "I may be slow, but at least I'm sweet!" Quote Link to comment

Kerry.
The real praise must go to the underground survey work as without that it really didn't matter what type of gear one had on the surface. GPS was only a very minor part in this effort, the credit must go to the underground survey work (and GPS certainly doesn't work underground). Basically using $60,000 work of gear to locate workings surveyed with conventional survey gear and probably measuring tapes. It was only ever going to be as good as the U/G surveys. Cheers, Kerry. I never get lost everybody keeps telling me where to go Quote Link to comment
