+J2Hikers Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 I thought of multi-cache idea that involved a starting cache where you have 4 coordinates to choose from...one can take you directly to the prize cache..while the three others send you off on a wild goose chase eventually bringing you to the prize cache...so it is kind of a luck of the draw. One out of the three would be really difficult.. I guess you could cheat and type in all four and go to each one but i doubt most would do that. And also if a family had a few GPS's they could split up and compare and see who chose the better coordinates....any ideas would be appreciated. Think this would be enjoyed by people? J2 HIKERS Quote
+ChrisCindy Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 This cache is a local one that is like what you are talking about I think. You get three projections to choose from but only one of them leads to the cache. It's a fun idea when you throw in the TB key you need to unlock the cache. When in doubt...hit it with a big hammer. The 2 Dogs Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 Somebody tried this idea here in Australia. Personally I found it to be a pain in the A.... to do. I don't think it has proved to be popular with others as well. The hunt is just too frustrating. Who wants to spent half the day or more criss crossing a city and in a lot of cases to find nothing at the other end. It might seem like a good idea on paper but in practice it's not fun for most finders. Quote
+J2Hikers Posted August 16, 2003 Author Posted August 16, 2003 Well it doesn't involve crisscrossing across the city just crisscrossing across a park.... all within easy walking/biking distance? J2 HIKERS Quote
Jomarac5 Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 We have a nearby cache called the Robert Burnaby Par 3 that is based on several different coordinates within a single park. Some coords are correct, some are not. The cache is based on a golf theme, and although I haven't yet done it, the cache has had a lot of traffic and seems very popular. Sounds like fun to me. ***** Quote

+Brian - Team A.I. Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 Well, I have a variation on that theme... It...Has You. You have a choice after answering the questions to obtain the coordinates on which way to go. It's a 50-50 shot. Brian Team A.I. Quote

+MtnLion Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 I like this idea very much...as long as any direction you take eventually leads to the final cache. I probably wouldn't have much fun getting to the wrong coordinates and having a dead end or just no cache. The idea of one that leads directly to the cache, one that has maybe one intermediary and then one that has, say, three or four intermediaries sounds great. I'd probably do the thing three times just to see where all the locations were. It may fly in the face of the standard rules/culture of the site, but I could see a bunch of micro caches in a downtown area, or on a college campus, or in a park, leading from one to another to a final regular cache. As long as I knew I might be in for a long haul, I think I'd enjoy it. It'd be nice if there was something to see or do at each stop...otherwise, it would be sort of pointless. Quote
