Cache Banner

I've started adding a graphic banner to each of my sites. Jeremy has indicated he is fine with such external links in the body, but not in the title and author fields.

So, check my first attempt with the Karoo National Park cache at http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=3706

For the non-coders, you need to copy and paste the following code to your cache description. Change the web site address and image name to your own.

I'll add one thing...

This -

Banner.jpg

Is better as

If you add the width and height (in pixels) the page will load first, then the images will load in afterwards. So it looks like the page loads faster.

Hopefully you host your images on a fast machine, otherwise there may be slow loading images (or worse, broken images!)

Jeremy, I've been putting a link to a graphic image of my signature in the author field (see for example http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=37). Just to clarify this for me and others, would you prefer that we do not do this?

Unfortunately the html does not show up well in other areas of the site (especially when you download GPS data). Tomorrow I'll be removing that functionality so it would be best to remove it now.

I will be going through and cleaning up the cache nicknames and contact names, but I may miss some items.

Quite right! I uploaded the banner as one of the pictures of the cache and changed the html to

Hey Peter

You know that there are freeware panoramic programs that will help smooth out the transitions between the photos to make them appear like one photo. Unfortunately I cant remember the names but a search on google or CNET should help icon_smile.gif

The one I use is called Panorama Factory and it's very good. Requires images to by side by side, so don't do what I did and take two per angle. My last cache, the Karoo National Park cache, was done correctly. Still Panorama Factory couldn't get it 100% right, but not bad.
