The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948) starring Humphrey Bogart, directed by John Huston. "A grand adventure and a superior character study built around the timeless themes of greed and moral corruption ... a definitive treatment of fate and futility in the obsessive pursuit of wealth."

Yes, the premise is a technology that can pinpoint your GPS coordinates by voice recognition with a cell phone. Charlie, therefore, is a human Geocache icon_wink.gif

Now that was a geocaching move if I ever saw one

and what a cache prize that video tape would have made icon_eek.gificon_eek.gificon_eek.gificon_eek.gif

I would follow my GPS to the gates of Hell if it pointed that way.

Oh man... I guess nobody thought it was as good a movie as I did...

Tomb Raider

I mean, Lara Croft is the ultimate geocacher. She has all of the coolest stuff, the best rig to get there and she has to find the cache to "save the universe, again".

"Absolutely!"

How about The Deep? Ultimate Treasure Hunting

(although all you guys will remember is Jacqueline Bisset in her wet t-shirt) icon_wink.gif

The shore is an ancient world, for as long as there has been an earth and sea, there has been this place of the meeting of land and water. -Rachel Carson

Not a movie, but a short story...."The Gold Bug" by Edgar Alan Poe

RD,

Hmm, I'm a big EAP fan... and I know of the Gold Bug... but now I can't think of the story. That's not the one where he sees the monster coming down the mountain, is it? That can't be it, that's not cacheish.

It's on pay per view and I was laughing out load quit a few times. The whole 'prairy dogging' scene had me in stiches. I'll buy the squirrel.
