+Eric K
Is there any one that has or is there anyway to get a list of caches in Rest Areas? I've placed a few and found a few but would like to know if there is a list of them all. If there isn't and someone would like to get a list I would be happy to let you hang the list off my website. +Cincinnati Bearcaches
Be careful what you ask for...Rest Stop Caches Beware of the Rest Stops..although after I started this thread, I was first to find at 2 new reststop caches, but I brought my dog with me, I apparently looked like I was there for more legitimate purposes as I was unbothered for those. You can pull up the state maps and zoom to the interstates to see which ones are right there, then check the cache pages to see if it tells you. Unless someone allready went through the trouble, I dont think there would be an automated way to do it. Quote Link to comment
+Squirrel Nut & Beersnob
Luckily, I've never encountered a 'problem' rest stop. A couple of caches are: 80/90 Westbound Cache in Norhtern Indiana, just west of Ohio. Michigan route 23 in Southeast Michigan, a few miles north of the MI/OH state line I-75 Overlook, one of the best rest stops in the Lower Penninsula, North of Gaylord, south of Mackinaw Mackinac Mooch, while not technically by a rest stop, public facilities are available by the Fort and it's a great place to stretch your legs and do a bit of freighter- watching before/after crossing 'da bridge'. Cut River Cantilever, along route 2 in da UP. Quite a hike, though a short one. Bay Furnace Along 28 in da UP. Technically not a real rest stop, but a great place right along the highway to stop. Scott Falls another along 28 in da UP, across the road from the rest stop. Squeaky Sands yet another along 28 in da up. Lake View a visitor's center along ... you guessed it.. 28 in da UP Tioga Trail along 41 in da UP. Great falls at the end of a shortish trail. Can you fall in the Gorge?, another along 41 in da UP. Another spectacular waterfall. While we have not found the caches at all these rest areas, we have visited them all (at one point in time or another) and found them to be great spots, at least in daylight (we haven't paid any of the above a night visit). Though in da UP it's hard to find a rest stop that isn't scenic, it's best to hold your nose if you plan to use the facilities....... I walk the Maze of Moments, but everywhere I turn to, begins a new beginning, but never finds a finish... -Enya, Anywhere Is [This message was edited by Squirrel Nut on August 21, 2003 at 01:05 PM.] Quote Link to comment
