Virtual caches in National Parks???

Recommended Posts

Forgive me if this topic has been beaten to death. I couldn't find much relevant information in my search.

I know that regular caches are banned in National Parks, and although I disagree, I don't have any problem with that.

Are virtual caches in National parks permitted? I am planning a trip to Yellowstone in a month and was surprised to not see a single one in my search.

Jeremy said that it's OK for virtuals in National Parks. No box, no worries.

That answer doesn't seem to jive with the 6 virtual caches that I placed, but can't get approved in Yellowstone. Check out this thread.

icon_mad.gif Belleterre, those are exactly the type of caches that I was expecting to find when I entered the coordinates for Yellowstone. As of now, I don't think there is even ONE cache in Yellowstone park. For 6 caches to be denied in a HUGE park is ludicrous IMHO.

For a 100% contrast take a look at how many virtual caches are in Klamath Falls, city of 19,000. Most are within a mile of each other.

To have that many approved over a tiny area and to have 6 ALL REJECTED in a gigantic park makes no sense, UNLESS there is some sort of pressure to keep caching out of Yellowstone.
