Quackerbacker Posted May 10, 2002 Posted May 10, 2002 Forgive me if this topic has been beaten to death. I couldn't find much relevant information in my search. I know that regular caches are banned in National Parks, and although I disagree, I don't have any problem with that. Are virtual caches in National parks permitted? I am planning a trip to Yellowstone in a month and was surprised to not see a single one in my search. Quote
+Alan2 Posted May 10, 2002 Posted May 10, 2002 Try this site for trails, waypoints, maps, topos, and hiking routes already run through by others. They're not geocaching virtual, but the routes should be interesting to take your around to nice spots. Haven't tried it ,myself but if you do use it, let us know how good they are. http://maps.nationalgeographic.com/topo/ Alan Quote
+Markwell Posted May 11, 2002 Posted May 11, 2002 I asked this question specifically to Jeremy via e-mail, as someone moved one of my Photographer's Caches to a National Park. Jeremy said that it's OK for virtuals in National Parks. No box, no worries. Markwell My Geocaching Page Quote
Team Dragon Posted May 11, 2002 Posted May 11, 2002 Checking Washington DC shows a ton of virtuals at the various monuments. Quote

Quackerbacker Posted May 12, 2002 Author Posted May 12, 2002 Belleterre, those are exactly the type of caches that I was expecting to find when I entered the coordinates for Yellowstone. As of now, I don't think there is even ONE cache in Yellowstone park. For 6 caches to be denied in a HUGE park is ludicrous IMHO. For a 100% contrast take a look at how many virtual caches are in Klamath Falls, city of 19,000. Most are within a mile of each other. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest_cache.asp?zip=97602&submit1=Submit To have that many approved over a tiny area and to have 6 ALL REJECTED in a gigantic park makes no sense, UNLESS there is some sort of pressure to keep caching out of Yellowstone. +Belleterre Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 Alan2 suggested that I post them on another cache site, navxxx. It's been done successfully. I'm still hoping they'll show up here though. Quote
