Guest Miken927
Just curious... aparently there's been a lot of solar activity lately (including the largest solar flare ever recorded). Did this/does this effect the GPS sats? Quote Link to comment

Guest johns
From: "John Bonde" Subject: Recent atmospheric disturbances and GPS accuracy Date: Thursday, April 12, 2001 7:58 PM The recent atmospheric disturbances have affected the accuracy of GPS - at least in my area. I collected 24 hours of data from a Garmin 12XL between 03 UTC on April 11 and 03 UTC on April 12. The horizontal accuracy during this time was 3.2 meters (50%) and 14.4 meters (95%). The longterm 95% value is 6.3 meters. Using the Planetary K index from NOAA's site http://www.sec.noaa.gov/ftpdir/plots/kp/20010412_kp.gif as an approximate indication of the disturbance event I split the data into two groups. The first was from 03 to 17 UTC and the second from 17 to 03 (on April 12). The horizontal error stats, in meters, are shown below. Group 1 Group 2 All Data 50% 2.7 8.7 3.2 95% 5.4 19.3 14.4 Max 9.6 30.5 30.5 N 39251 28292 67543 Data from the local CORS station showed the same effect. Quote Link to comment
