Actually, there are digital models available (just check out thispage for a bunch of cameras). And you can always cover the flash with tape

We'd finally be able to find out who is leaving our caches out in the open, or moving them!

It doesn't make much sense to protect a cache that cost $20 to put together with a $160 camera. But if someone has the money to burn, why not?

Personally, I'd rather put out 8 other caches in other locations that wouldn't be pilfered.

... with my luck... my $160 camera would be spotted... taken... and 'down-traded' for a Fuji disposable camera and a log entry that said ".. thanks for the hunt!" * sigh *

I had one of these things. The one I had did not include the camera. You had to buy a canon sureshot. You need a camera that does not turn off over time like most do.

 

I wanted to use it on cachers but was afraid to have someone steal it. Expensive experiment.

 

It is funny how things come out in threads again. We talk about this subject a few years ago.

I have a cache that is in the bushes at my work. I was going to put up a webcam with a motion sensor and take pictures of people. I still thinking about it but we are moving at the end of the year and I am not sure If I want to go through all the trouble of mounting it outside.
