Guest cache_only
Hi, all. Did you go geocaching this morning and find your GPS wouldn't acquire any satellites? Mine wouldn't. I can't explain it. I have a Garmin GPS 12 and when turned on, hollow vertical bars appear to indicate tracking and they eventually turn solid black when a satellite is locked in/acquired. Not even the hollow bars would appear, indicating something is wrong somewhere. The batteries are fine. I checked the main setup and nothing is changed there. Thanks, Rob Quote Link to comment
Guest k2dave
no prob from 9:30am edt on. I have never heard of the system going down - I think the sat's opperate independently so 1 can maulfunction without bringing down the fleet. (I don't really know if that is how it works but is sounds good) Quote Link to comment

Guest Lou C
I had the same thing happen to me with a GPS12 I was borrowing from a friend while I was in Minnesota. It was a heavy overcast day and I blamed the lack of acquisition on that. But I am a few miles west of you and we had a nice clear day today, so that could not be it! I did read something on sci.geo.satellite-nav that related to some satellites being unusable. The links he referred to were: http://WWW.SCHRIEVER.AF.MIL/GPS/Current/current.nnu? http://WWW.SCHRIEVER.AF.MIL/GPS/Current/current.oa1? http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/gps/geninfo/NANUabbr.htm If you think you can decode what the message means, go to that news group and look for a message with the title "NOTICE ADVISORY TO NAVSTAR USERS (NANU) 2001089" Lou Quote Link to comment
Guest Alex
One of my customers had that happen to his Mag 315 a while back. Magellan replaced it (the 315 that is, not the network!). Quote Link to comment
Guest cache_only
Thanks, everybody. I finally got my wife to "fess up." She dropped it. I just re-initialized everything (as when I first bought it) and all is well again. Thanks again, Rob Quote Link to comment
