Guest Dwarf Posted August 6, 2001 Posted August 6, 2001 During Jay's Monologue (or maybe it was headlines) He told about a group of guys that robbed a convenience store. The authorities were able to arrest one of the guys soon afterwards because he had a GPS strapped to his leg the whole time! Quote
Guest TeamNova Posted August 6, 2001 Posted August 6, 2001 I'm not sure I understand. No one can find someone carrying a GPS unit any more than one can find someone carrying a FM radio. A GPS receiver doesn't send anything out. Quote
Guest zoedog Posted August 6, 2001 Posted August 6, 2001 The only thing that I can think of is that he had one of the devices that are used for house arest so they can monitor if you are at your residence or not. ZoeDog Quote
Guest Dwarf Posted August 7, 2001 Posted August 7, 2001 Sorry for cutting it short, but Jay shortened it for the general public, but yes, this is the "house arrest" cuff which is a GPS, but also a tracking device. The wearer can't use it or anything, it just stores his path and sends out a signal when he or she crosses his house arrest borders. I was just giving the crux of the joke. Quote
