My vote goes to mtn-man, I have no idea how many caches he goes through in a given weekend, but every one of mine that he has approved has been done within 48 hours (a couple even quicker). It's a shame that we have to vote for one, because there are many others that also deserve a big "thank you" for the work they do. So, thanks to all of them. And thanks, El Diablo for a donating a staff.

You can't acknowledge me by saying I'm ignored... that defeats the whole purpose of voting to be ignored. Jeesh.

I've only had e-mail contact with one approver, Keystone, but from the forums I have a great respect for all of the ones I 'know' - but I'll have to cast the vote for KA...

Pan - I thought you disapproved of thread hijacking... They made a another thread instead of continuing in the other. Please don't be a hypocrite.

Pan...your right I was wrong to hijack J5's thread. It's just because I get tired of hearing all the negativity in the fourms.

New England n00b, can you either explain what you mean, or clean up the grammar in your post. I have no idea what you're talking about.

And just so I'm not accused of hijacking this thread, or being a hypocrite, if I wasn't voting to be ignored, I'd cast my vote for Keystone Approver also. He seems level-headed and even-handed in most cases that I've witnessed. I believe these are invaluable assets in an approver to the caching community.

A sincere thanks to those who have mentioned my name in this thread, and to El Diablo for a great idea for a positive morale boost.

But my purpose for writing is to remind voters *not* to base their votes solely on forum posts. This would give an unfair advantage to folks like myself who moderate busy forums and are frequent posters. The majority of the approvers do their work behind the scenes... approving caches, attending meetings, talking to land managers and so forth. For example, if someone from Wisconsin reads this, post something in your state forums encouraging votes for the WGA Admin. He does a great job for a great association and you don't hear many complaints. If someone from Great Britain reads this, think of the marvelous job which Eckington and Lactodorum have done lately to calm the sometimes stormy waters, and post a link to this thread over in the UK forum. There are lots of other examples but you get the idea.

Nope, no hints now, you have to read the contact@geocaching.com emails.

icon_biggrin.gif I guess none will get your vote since approvers cannot do that at this time!

So much for that idea.

I will vote for mtn-man. Even though he does not approve caches in my area, I have had several email communications with him. He has always responded in a gracious and timely manner...and his sense of humor is unparalled. icon_wink.gif

First of all, thanks to El Diablo for your generosity and another great competition. The community needs this kind of activity. Long live the Evil Horde!

In my case it's tough to decide my favorite approver. I don't even know the names of all who approve the Finnish or other European caches. There are 3 different names among the approvers of my 14 caches. And is erik88l-r the same person as ~erik~? I also could vote for some admin based on what I've seen him/her posting in the forums... dadgum, this is gonna be hard.tongue.gif

- I just got lost in thought. It was unfamiliar territory. -

I like NJ Admin the best. I send him $50 each month he approves everything for me. Vacation caches, moving caches, virtuals, you name it!

And he doesn't even ask for all the coordinates for my multis...except for once, when I forgot to send the $50.

I'll say one thing...you Approvers are well thought of. If you think they are saying nice things about you in the fourms. You should see what good things they say about you in emails!! icon_smile.gif

I don't think I got this many votes when we had the Avatar contest. Keep them coming, and spread the word outside the fourms to get your approver nomonated.

Don't forget you have to vote by email in order for it to count.

For one thing, I don't know who all of the apporovers are. For another, I cannot play favorites, because I've met several and consider them all to be wonderful people. So I guess I have to abstain from the vote. Although it would be nice for one of them to have a walking stick.

My vote definitely goes to ~erik~ (aka erik88l-r) since he's gone out of his way to help me on a few caches that I've hidden along with my brother KBI. He also does a great job hiding caches in a very creative way. His are always fun to hide. So he not only gives to geocaching by approving, he also adds to the list of caches in my area.

I vote you give him the shaft.

My vote goes to NJAdmin.

He's the only approver I've actually been in CONTACT with. He seems pretty groovy and STUFF.

AND . . . he seems to love doing my cache(s).

He should be the hands on winner . . . or is that hands down??

Happy caching and stuff.

Keep on stashin' and I'll keep on cachin'!

I'd have to vote for KA for all the work they do on the forums and approving. But in the interest of brown-nosing my local approvers I'll put in honorable mentions for Hemlock and SOCal Admin. They both have an overwhelming job approving caches in the most populated State in the Union. icon_biggrin.gif

Just curious...can someone tell me in Admin just how many approvers there are? There are apparently a lot of unsung heros out there that we don't ever hear about in the fourms. I'm getting emails nominating people I've never heard of, and I've been around for awhile.

Also as a side note. I gave up trying to answer each email after the first hundred or so. If you don't hear back from me, don't panic your vote was recorded.

Also...Appovers and Admin are eligible to vote.

There are about 35 volunteer admins, depending on how one counts. At any time, one or more admins may be on a sabbatical (for example, the arrival of a new baby or beginning a new job may necessitate a break from admin duties).

El Diablo, if there are names you don't recognize, send me an e-mail and I'll be glad to help. Thanks again for your efforts.

Of course Keystone Approver is my favorite approver. Not only is he a great cacher, but he also stops some of the mud slinging in the forums. And most importantly I have a cache in the works.
