Skippy2
I just received my Meridian vehicle mount. After struggling for 30 minutes to assemble it, I put in in my car(1990 Ford Probe). I am not able to tighten those screws enough to make the mounting bracket stop swiveling at every bump and every turn. It swivels too much. Maybe some clear finger nail polish applied at certain places might solve the problem. Picture of what I mean by "swiveling too much": Quote Link to comment
+georgeandmary
how about some shims. or small pieces of rubber. I had to screw mine down pretty tight when I assembled it. BTW, where is the power cord? george Wanna go for a ride? Quote Link to comment

+user13371
Yeah, what GeorgeAndMary said, or maybe a bit of electrical tape around the post. What part of Nebraska are you in? I lived at/near Offutt for a few years--it didn't seem too far from civilization. Quote Link to comment
+Jamie Z
If you do a search for Meridian vehicle mount, you'll find some interesting discussion on the matter... plus my recommendations. Jamie Quote Link to comment
+Cachetrotters
I'm sorry to be a doubting Thomas (my middle name, in fact), but it should hold so tight you have to back off the screws a little so it will swivel when you want it too....unless you stripped the screws on one side... There is a specific way to tighten the clamp. Check the mounting bracket instructions and try again. don Quote Link to comment

It was plenty tight, no unintentional swivelling. I just ordered the mount for my meridian, so in a week I might be in your shoes. -pizzachef Quote Link to comment
+DustyJacket
I have 2 of those mounts for our meridians. They are as tight or as loose as you want to make them. No problems, here. DustyJacket Not all those that wander are lost. But in my case... Quote Link to comment

Yes, I agree that Offut is close to civilization because it is on the outskirts of Omaha, Nebraska's largest city. Just go west to 40 12445N - 100 37.337W and you'll be where I live, about 256 miles West of Omaha. People who live there can go to all the electronic stores and buy all sorts of neat stuff after looking at it and touching it. I can only buy from the Net. That's sort of what I meant when I said I was no where near civilization. hahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahha And - I had a friend look at the monting bracket and he could not tighten them either. The threads are not stripped. Doubting Thomas or not, the thing swivels around like a childs playground merry-go-round. Sorry, but it does.! And -- What clamp? the little plastic thingie that has the four screws holding it in place? Quote Link to comment

Yes, little plastic thingie is the technical term. I just called it a clamp, meaning saddle clamp, and the instructions call it a fastener plate. Note the 2 relief arrows. The 2 screws behind the arows should be tight, the 2 in front of the arrows should be adjusted for the preferred friction fit. (Sorry I didn't crop--was in hurry) don Quote Link to comment
Skippy2
Took my MeriGreen w/vehicle mounting bracket for a test drive today. After I slapped a piece of electrical/electricians tape on the "swively" part - things went just fine. I think this setup is going to be okay! Quote Link to comment
