+VentureForth Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 Ventureforth begat AVenture, MissVenture, MiniV and Xcacher. Xcacher begat shroomsolo and bobcachette. Bobcachette begat MsAdventure who begat BCingU, scout1, and badman65. All in all, there were 4 generations of cachers from VentureForth to badman65. And more were being added to the numbers daily. As for VentureForth, he found geocaching on his own. A faint recollection of a TV special long, long ago. And I'm only 30. --------------- Go! And don't be afraid to get a little wet! Quote
DisQuoi Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 You seem very fertile. I've decided I'm barren as I can't seem to beget anyone. ... and believe me, I've tried. Quote
+TresOkies Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 You say "begat", I say "infect". I've infected several, but I haven't seen any secondary levels of infection. That isn't to say it hasn't happened, I just haven't seen it. As for begatting (is that a word?), we're working on that, too. -E -- N35°32.981 W98°34.631 Quote
DisQuoi Posted June 3, 2002 Posted June 3, 2002 Pronunciation: bi-'get Function: transitive verb Inflected Form(s): be·got /-'gät/; also be·gat /-'gat/; be·got·ten /-'gä-t&n/; or -got; -get·ting Etymology: Middle English begeten, alteration of beyeten, from Old English bigietan -- more at GET Date: 13th century 1 : to procreate as the father : SIRE 2 : to produce especially as an effect or outgrowth - be·get·ter noun "begatting" sounds good to me Quote
+VentureForth Posted June 3, 2002 Author Posted June 3, 2002 Picked an appropriate word, and didn't even really know it! I grabbed it from the King James, playing off of the procreation point. I was really only going for literary prose... --------------- Go! And don't be afraid to get a little wet! Quote
+GeoVamp Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 Sounds like VF got stuck in one of them Bible verses that says be fruitful and multiply or in this case infect his love ones with a adiction of the Geo-kind. I would follow my GPS to the gates of Hell if it pointed that way. Quote
OFF RODE Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 I thought a Begat was a loaf of French Bread.... "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there." Yogi Berra Quote

+Dekaner Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 When you sign up on the site it could ask you if someone referred you to the site. It could then generate a cool family tree showing all the people who signed up to the site after you referred them to it (or they referred it to someone else) and so forth. What do you think? May be hard to do retroactively, but it could be done. - Dekaner of Team KKF2A Quote
+Dekaner Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 Maybe even a box when you sign up that has a pulldown asking where you heard of the site. - Internet Article - Newspaper Article - Another Geocacher - Dekaner of Team KKF2A Quote
+Laserman Posted June 4, 2002 Posted June 4, 2002 Combining geneology with geocaching.... hmmmm BTW: I begat Dispatcher, in the geocaching world. But in the 'real world' Dispatcher begat me, confusing? Quote
