I have posted here before about my feelings regarding the firmware update v4.06 for the MeriPlat. I also said that that I was going to return to v4.02. I previouslhad very good luck with v4.02 when I had a MeriGreen.

I followed the v4.02 download instructions to the letter.

1. Ok.

2. OK

3. OK

4. OK

5. OK

6. OK

7. OK

8. At this point, the words "upload of of code complete" (as the instructions said they would appear.) The unit turned itself off - BUT the unit did not automatically restart as the the instructions said it would.

I unhooked the PC Power/Data cable and tried to start the unit by hitting the Power button. The normal first screen appeared for 1/1000th of a second and was replaced by a scree that says;

UNIT

CURRENTLY

CONTAINS

NO MAP!

INITIATIMG

MAP UPLOAD

and...the message just stays there. I can NOT turn the unit off. I have to remove the batteries to get it to turn off.

So much for the firmware upgrade.

Any ideas what I should do now?

Thanks!

Withthe unit off, hit NAV and PWR key atthe same time....

Hopefully you will get the box for the hidden menu.

If so, change 00 to 98, then hit ENTER.

You'll be presented with three choices. Select Basemap, hit ENTER

This will put the unit into Map Upload Mode.

Use Magup in Expert mode to upload the Basemap only.....

Hopefully you'll be good to go from here...
