+Showcase_Boyz
1) A photograph of the actual cache location. 2) A personal website link that describes the cache location. Trust me, it's been done! 3) Giving a "cultural," "natural," or "geologic" history of the area can sometimes produce spoilers. hgmonaro
What the others have mentioned is what a message that is a 'spoiler' contains. A slight twist of this definition a 'spoiler' is the warning shown, usually by including the words *SPOILER* that by clicking the associated link (or maybe scrolling down the page), there is infomation that will/could give the game away, whatever the topic. When creating message/topic that contains a spoiler, remember to make the topic text generic so people know what you're refering to but doesn't actually indicate what the message says, so they can avoid it if they desire. +15Tango
Aside from the spoilers on the online description and logs, there are also physical spoilers--somebody might place a stick in the hole in the tree where the cache is placed, or something along those lines. Here in Minnesota, most of the physical spoilers have been inadvertent--tracks in the snow going to and from the cache site. Of course, with 30' of accuracy, there can still be quite a few misleading tracks at the cache site. Also, it isn't a problem this time of year. www.1800goguard.com Quote Link to comment
+sbell111
A spoiler is antthing that has the potential to give away more information than the cahe owner intended regarding the location (or in some cases the 'twist'). Quote Link to comment
ride_bent
Here is an example of a spoiler by me. I posted a photo of my wife pointing to a micro cache. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=12797 (Look for my April 20th entry.) I also posted 2 warnings about the photo. I didn't see any in Minnesota, but a couple weeks ago I went confluence hunting in southern Canada, and ran into some snow still melting. Jamie Quote Link to comment
