Guest celts
OK that was the technical definition. It's the last great hurrah of summer - at least in the midwest. Schools are either started by now or just getting started, pools and beaches close for the year. It's the last big event of the season and pretty much is the unofficial end to summer. It's a paid holiday--so that means most folks have a three day weekend to celebrate before the weather starts changing to fall. Quote Link to comment

Better Definition Labor Day: the day we celebrate the work ethic by ignoring it. [This message has been edited by Markwell (edited 31 August 2001).] Quote Link to comment

Guest BX Tale
Its all about having a great time before the last of the hot days are all gone. (I really like the cold much much better) But it is the last days to enjoy as a family before everyone goes back to school. The last of the summer vacation from work. Anyway enjoy this weekend what ever part of the world you are at, just make it an extra safe one. [This message has been edited by BX Tale (edited 31 August 2001).] Quote Link to comment
