+RobRee Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 we are about to place a cache, and the spot we chose has just been used. we decided to hide the cache in the same park.. a reasonable distance away. i have heard a few distance requirements, but would like to know the norm. i heard a 1/4 mile.. but this newest one was placed within 600 ft of another. what is the rule?? do any of you like the fact that there are multiple cache in one park setting.. with legal easy parking. being a family of cachers we look for this type of area. just curious. robbie feel free to markwell the heck out of this thread if it has been thoroughly discussed already. +Doc-Dean Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 The rule is more than 0.1 miles from any exisiting cache (real or virtual). --------------------------------------------------- Free your mind and the rest will follow Quote
+Mark 42 Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 I would expect that the rule is more like a guideline... if there is a good reason to place one near another one (like the terrain is different, and both are very interesting destinations, and people can't get from one directly to the other, and they won't mistake one for the other (e.g. due to poor GPS reception), and both of them are different in character... then they could make an exception. In some cases, .1 mile would be too close. In some places, it only makes sense to have one or two in an area because if you've seen one, the others are no different. At least that's my impression thus far, as a fairly new GeoCacher. I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people. Quote
+Renegade Knight Posted August 12, 2003 Posted August 12, 2003 0.1 mile is the rule unless you can prove a good reason. Like it's the other side of the river, or even though they ae 20' apart one is at the top of a cliff and the other at the bottom and it's a half mile hike around. Quote
