+arrowroot Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 This article showed up this morning at Slashdot, and I thought it would be of interest here. Phrack magazine has posted a circuit design for a GPS jamming device. Details are available in this computerworld article. I can't see a cacher "hiding" his cache better by puting a jammer in it... but it's just another thing to be worried about. I am Arrowroot, son of Arrowshirt. I have many names, you know Quote
+Choachy Posted January 18, 2003 Posted January 18, 2003 I was just coming to the board to post the same story from Slashdot. Interesting read. Quote
+GoldKey Posted January 20, 2003 Posted January 20, 2003 If you put a couple of jammmer in the area surrounding a cache but far enough away to not affect the immediate cache area could make getting there kind of difficult. +georgeandmary Posted January 22, 2003 Posted January 22, 2003 I just used what mother nature provided.... heavy tree cover and a nice deep canyon. george Pedal until your legs cramp up and then pedal some more. Quote

There is a small localized spot in a Wilderness near me where for some strange reason both GPS and compass go zany. Walk ten feet and the compass swings 90 degrees and the GPS suddenly shows you in the Indian Ocean. Walk back to the original spot and a you a get a whole new set of bearings and location. Weird. The topography is such as multipath shouldn't be a problem and there are no known mineral deposits underground, so I am open to explanations. (A UFO web site claims there is a secret underground alien base nearby -- that's as good a reason as any. Maybe Bigfoot has something to do with it.) ======================================== Friends don't let Friends geocache drunk. Quote
