+yrium Posted March 30, 2002 Posted March 30, 2002 My latest cache log entry for my Yrium's White Elephant cache shows that the ground my cache was sitting on was scooped up and taken away! I wonder if the cache was singing Carol King's "I feel the Earth move under my feet, I feel the sky tumbling down, tumbling down...!" as the backhoe was doing its job? The amazing thing is the cache is okay and rehidden. Take that tupperware! Ammo boxes can survive where you'd pop your lids and fold under pressure! --- yrium --- -- caches can sing right? Quote
+rdw Posted March 30, 2002 Posted March 30, 2002 This may be a first. Did they move the box, bulldoze, backhoe, and then put it back in the hole? And yes, ammo cans are the best. rdw Quote

Great one, yrium. I love it. Ya gotta love them ammo cans. I've had 23 caches out there, the first one I put out a year ago, & aside from a few of them being plundered, there hasn't been one yet that has suffered any moisture inside or rusted. And not too many worries of critters getting in them.I've got another dozen cans en route to me now. Glad to hear your cache is well. Quote

I was only able to find ONE ammo can locally, and it cost $8.00. The place that I bought it sounded like they wouldn't be getting any more in. Rubbermaid seems to be cheaper...and more importanly, I can actually FIND it for sale. Quote

+Jamie Z Posted March 30, 2002 Posted March 30, 2002 Hmmm, maybe I live in a privelidged area, but there are probably a half a dozen army surplus stores in the area, and each one of them has probably a hundred ammo cans. Anyway, yrium (every time I write that, I think I'm spelling something backwards) what the heck happened to this thing? They scooped it up and put the dirt pile somewhere else? Jamie Quote

On a different matter, That cache was unique in another way in that it had its own self assigned cache guardian living nearby. A camper or possibly homeless individual by the name of Danny was frequently found living around the cache. He had even found it and made a log entry. Now I'm wondering where he went when the heavy construction came a calling. --- yrium --- Quote
