Never Forget 9-11

I know its off topic and I really don't care. I lost my best friend in Tower 1, 2 years ago today.

He wasnt't a firefighter,

He wasn't a police officer,

He wasn't a hero.

He was just a regular schmo doing his job,

He was just Anthony, husband and father of 3 great kids,

He was just 33 years old.

We must never forget, we must never stop fighting for our freedom!!

N 43° 15.346 W 079° 07.145 If you are ever in Canada, go to this area and visit the memorial to 9/11 on the shore of Lake Ontario looking towards New York. It features a plaque and a maple tree for every Canadian who died in the towers that day. There are a lot of Canadians who are with you in your battle.

Anthony Perez also worked for Cantor in the E-Speed division...

I believe he was on the 103rd floor.

I wonder if they had known each other?

At Anthony's funeral (several months after 9/11), I met some of his co-workers who survived.

One had stayed at his mother's house in Jersey the night before and so was running late for work.

Another guy, was fired on 9-10-01. Can you imagine that?? You are fired from your job and feel in the dumps and then next day your whole building and everyone you knew are gone.

Chilling isn't it??

My brother worked for Cantor Fizgerald on the 105th floor. By grace of God, he wasn't in work that day, but he lost his best friend and all of his co-workers, some of whom I met. I won't forget.

My first cache was placed in memory of Billy Erwin.

I will never forget watching television and seeing those Police, Fire, and EMS personnel running into those buildings while everyone else was running out.

Where do we find these individuals? How blessed are we to have them? How many more would have died without their efforts? How many who died did so with a Firefighter kneeling beside them comforting them saying, "It's alright, I'm here with you?"

God bless all who suffered. God bless all who remember. God awaken those who have forgotten.

Farewell to my friends and co-workers in the airline industry who died that day.

Our lives will never be the same.

I will do today what I did last year in support of those who died and defiance to those who comitted mass murder.

I am going flying.

Feeling bad...

You know, last night, my wife asked me "You know what tomorrow is?"

I was racking my brain, thinking anniversary?, b-day, ???>>>Then BAM! It hit me!

If you have recently complained about your life, job, family, bills or any other peev, then MY FRIEND... TAKE A STEP TO THE CLOSEST MIRROR...and look at what you see.

There you are. You are alive and well. Many who had a life just like yours do not have one right now. Friends, family, young and old are now a beloved memory that will never return.

Now we have servicemen/women over "there", as we have always regardless of what war or scurmish that erupted.

It has definately opened my eyes, and I'm sure others for the fact that we all tend to take things for granted. We ALL do! Tell me who doesn't.

You know, I think I have a dangerous job underground. I don't know $hit!

God bless all who lost their lives on that horrible day. God bless the lives lost after and the friends and family.

May God be with the troops abroad.

Sure I can sit here at the computer with all of my pleasures, my youngest 19 mo. old daughter running around.

Yeah, I will probably take that for granted, too, as we all tend to do that. Take things for granted.

I wish there was never such a phrase. That sucks.

I was at work on 9/11. I work at a large military base as a security specialist. I manage the physical security program for some of DoD’s nastiest weapon systems, I also do anti-terrorism stuff. When the first plane hit I, like many others, thought it was an accident, a spectacular one, but an accident never the less. I was watching the TV in a co-worker’s office when the second plane hit. We knew that we were at war. The Pentagon strike drove that fact home even more. About 30 minutes later our desk sergeant received a call from the FAA that a plane had dropped below radar five miles out from where we have all of our “super nasty” weapons stored. We thought we were a/b to be hit. The SRT saddled up and took one of our M113s and all of the crew served weapons we could get. As silly as it sounds, we were going to try to shoot it down if the aircraft threatened us. I had all of the storage magazines locked down, and we waited. The aircraft landed w/o incident at a local airport. I called my wife and told her that I loved her and if something happened to me that to be sure to tell my daughters that I would always love them and be proud of them. I didn’t know if we would see the end of the day. Our HQ called and ordered us to “Force Protection Condition Delta” or FPCON D. A virtual lock down of the entire installation. We remained that way for 2 days and regarded back to FPCON Charlie where we remain today. That first three weeks I was averaging 14-20 hours a day. I was able to come home for 2 hours on my daughters birthday. I said goodbye to my wife, daughter, father and friends and went back to work, I had tears in my eyes when I left them. It was a year before I saw less than 12 hour days. I'll never, ever forget!

Funny how the topic of immigration is always shunted into a fairy tale sort of fiction about how it is a benefit with no costs. Yet, this is clearly a cost that was directly tied to immigration! To add insult to injury, the Federal Government (I would say "our" Federal Government, but they don't seem to be ours any longer) is going out of its way to ensure the ILLEGAL ALIENS get benefits. Ahhh, the New America, where you can pay no taxes and get the money other people have earned.....

In fact, the attack is tied to two subjects on which no discussion is even allowed: immigration and our slavish support for Israel.

Many will bloviate about "liberty" and "freedom" because they are good terms to throw around. Yet, poll after poll shows strong support to curtail (or even eliminate) immigration and the BILLIONS we send to Israel every year and no politician will even consider it. Just something to consider when politicians, no doubt, will make empty speechs concerning "liberty," "democracy" "freedom" etc...

Sorry to introduce reality here, but if we continue accept political doublespeak as truths and allow ourselves to be snowed with empty words, "terrorists" are the least of our worries. Did TPTB really think pissing off half the world while allowing them in our country uncontrolled is a sound policy? You can't have both and expect things like this not to happen.

I agree with Sam. I always use the old phrase, Who died and left the US boss!! Why do TPTB feel we should meddle in every countries affairs. There are plenty of issues that need to be addressed right here. I live in the western end of NY state. The economy here is so bad that the city I live in, has the same population (or close to it) as Niagara Falls, NY. A once booming hub for industry and manufacturing. Now, next to nothing exists. When will "OUR" government come to "OUR" aid!!

The reason I interject this here, though it may not seem entirely relevant, is that during these times, many references will be made to our country, government and history. It is important to make that connection, but to do so, they kinda have to gloss over issues like stealing money from American citizens to hand over to a foreign country built on religious zealotry (Israel) because any person can see that the Founding Fathers would have torn down this government before seeing such an atrocity committed against their fellow countrymen.

You can always try what the Florida Keys did several years ago. They successfully seceeded from the US and formed The Conch Republic.

Given it only lasted about 10 minutes before the president of the Conch Republic surrendered to the head of the Key West Air Force Base.

But not before he requested billions of dollars in foreign aid from the US!! icon_smile.gif

I am not even going to engage you in this nonsense but I will clarify one thing for you, support of Israel has nothing to do with religion or zealotry at all.

90% of the country is secular. Using those terms, the US is more of a religous country than Israel is.

Sorry folks, but guv'mnt is not the cause of your problems, and it's not the solution to your problems. It's easy to blame everything on the government and give no credit where credit is due. Whining is whining, whether about *support for Israel* or *foreign aid* or any other issue.

WE are the government. YOU are the government. Get off your dead butts and instead of typing in nonsense in here use the same amount of time and effort to contact politicians, or, even better, boot their dead butts out of office and elect someone who has your (our) best interest at heart.

Otherwise, quit'cher *****in....

LOL! We have a cross on our flag, do we? Look at Israel's.

Is it not a "Homeland for Jews"? Do they not have restrictions on IMMIGRATION (that we, apparently, can't have) based on religion? Did they not declare that all Jews are citizens of Israel?

The basic principles of Israel are antithetical to those of the US.

icon_frown.gif 2 years ago I watched with horror as the second plane hit the WTC, but in all honesty that paled when seeing the ticker on the bottom of the screen start reporting a "fire" at the Pentagon...and then reporting a plane flying into the Pentagon, right over the Helipad. You see, my husband worked in an office overlooking the helipad...I was blessed that I heard from him within minutes as he left the building; he had been in a meeting about 100yds down the hallway from impact and he was unharmed. The rest of the night we spent getting phone calls as people checked in with one another, accounting for friends and co-workers one at a time. It was the phone calls that confirmed the deaths of 3 of his friends, and another 30 co-workers that came in the latest around midnight. We will not forget...even if sometimes we would like to.

I have a question.... I am asking this honestly...

9/11 was a terrible thing, no doubt about it. But what I don't understand is why people rever it so much when there are so many other tragic things that happen.

Look at the thousands of innocent people that die each year because of drunk drivers. We can stop that mess, yet we allow it to happen.

Or what about kids that get beat to death or left unintended and perish.

There are so many things that we can prevent. 9/11 was terrible and we always need to remember, but if we spent a fraction of the time working towards putting a end to other forms of "terror" wouldn't this country be a better place?

your intentions are great!

this has turned into a political debate of foolish proportions, i say this, for you were just honoring a friend, and 3000 some odd other husbands, wives, children, friends that were killed.

i will honor your friend by telling my children the name and where they perished. they will include the name in their prayers tonight.

i care not for the political madness that we find ourselves in today. i strive to change the things i can....

i responded to this incident with my fellow partners, i experienced the tragedy, and i will honor those that were lost. all of the political to and fro that we see here just takes away from the memory of the people we lost.

let those that wish to honor friends, family, and coworkers do so.

i don't agree or disagree with your arguments... i just ask that you let the people that wish to remember have a day to do so.

I can't even believe half of the sh1t I am reading on here.

Our government is by no means perfect - but if you don't like it go to some other fecking country where you aren't allowed to give your opinion or better yet, lock yourself up in your compound so the FBI can come and burn it down.

If it wasn't for Israel who would be keeping a lid on things over there? "The Homeland of the Jews" keeps the area in check. You made some pretty fecked up comments there - I'm offended and I am not even Jewish. Perhaps when your done washing your hood tonight we can go back out and have us a good 'ol cross burning. Jesus Christ - you made some crazy accusations.

The fact of the matter is thousands of people died two years ago today for no other reason than they were going about their daily routines. They (WE) were attacked for their way of life. It is the same as the Jews who live in Israel. They face the same thing on a daily basis. We are fortunate because we do not. We are generally proactive when dealing with other nations and that is what has helped maintain our independece and stability. Make no mistake - there are people out there who want to destroy our way of life. We must be ever vigilant and not allow that to happen.

Our government does A LOT of things to ensure that our freedoms are not taken away from us. And I am SURE they do a lot of fecked up things that we will never know about, because we probably shouldn't know about them and are probably better off not knowing about them. However, to make a statement about this not being what our forefathers wanted - there are a lot of things they didn't want and didn't plan for which is why the Constitution was made to be a living document. Jefferson didn't want slavery but he knew and understood its importance to the economy at that time and its power to split the infant nation. He also knew that at some point in the future it WOULD split the nation.

In God we trust, right? So our government is the opposite of the Israelis? Our forefathers KNEW that religion was one of, if not the only way to maintain some control of the general population - religion is as much a part of our government as Congress and the Supreme Court. We just don't advocate the government supporting one specific one.

Pssst...there are non-jews (goyums (spelling?)) in Israel.

Our government is not perfect but it is by the people and for the people. Here and only here can you wear that hood despite what it stands for. We don't have to like or agree with you but we do have to tolerate you.

I am reminded every day of this event. I no longer see the towers when I drive to work. I can't see them from my school and the last time I did see them they were burning.

May God, or whomever it is have mercy on those lost and their families and bring those responsible to justice quickly.

Sorry for ranting - and Sam, if I drew a conclusion about your character unjustly from what I read I apologize.

Exactly! Don't agree with the government and they will kill you. Where is that in the Constitution?

You mean Israel constantly stirring up trouble over there? You mean like Israel making unprovoked attacks and calling it "defense"? OK, then let's make a Homeland for Whites. So long as they exterminate Arabs, I guess they will be deserving of your support.

I do hope everyone takes note and questions why it is deemed necessary to quash ANY questioning of our support for Israel this way. I mean, it seems like there is something there TPTB really don't want the public to look at. What does that suggest?

The reason for our relative safety is the ocean - nothing more. It serves as a de facto border. But as that becomes less of a factor, we can expect more of this...unless we start paying attention to who enters this country (can you believe that relatively nothing has changed regarding illegal immigration after this attack? What more of a wake up call do you need?)

BTW, wasn't the Soviet Union "proactive" in the way you describe?

The US was never meant to be an Empire. Do you not recall Washington's warning about foreign entanglements?

While the Federal government contols this country, they are the ONLY threat to freedom. Do you not know history at all?

If you mean they do a lot to prevent attacks, well that is debatable. I'm still scratching my head as to how the Pentagon could have been attacked when they had fair warning. THE PENTAGON! Maybe these defenses are more smoke and mirrors than you think.

They do a lot of things to keep oil flowing, I'm sure. And I'm not opposed to that per se. Oil is vital and if we fought a war over oil, that would be justified BUT don't come to me and say the war is about the freedom of the Iraqi people because I don't like being lied to.

And Israel DOES, thus my point. Other nations that do: Iran and various other nations that the public are trained to react in knee jerk fashion as labeling them religious fanatics. The only reason Israel is not treated that way is because it isn't allowed to state anything negatively about Jews.

Do you not recall Washington's warning about foreign entanglements?

quote:

Our government does A LOT of things to ensure that our freedoms are not taken away from us.

Maybe these defenses are more smoke and mirrors than you think.

quote:

And I am SURE they do a lot of fecked up things that we will never know about, because we probably shouldn't know about them and are probably better off not knowing about them.

They do a lot of things to keep oil flowing, I'm sure. And I'm not opposed to that per se. Oil is vital and if we fought a war over oil, that would be justified BUT don't come to me and say the war is about the freedom of the Iraqi people because I don't like being lied to.

quote:

In God we trust, right? So our government is the opposite of the Israelis? Our forefathers KNEW that religion was one of, if not the only way to maintain some control of the general population - religion is as much a part of our government as Congress and the Supreme Court. We just don't advocate the government supporting one specific one.

And Israel DOES, thus my point. Other nations that do: Iran and various other nations that the public are trained to react in knee jerk fashion as labeling them religious fanatics. The only reason Israel is not treated that way is because it isn't allowed to state anything negatively about Jews.

quote:

Pssst...there are non-jews (goyums (spelling?)) in Israel.

There were blacks in the South that couldn't vote, either. So what? Presence doesn't mean that much. What people should be more concerned with is why land that is holy to three major religions is controlled by ONE.

quote:

Our government is not perfect but it is by the people and for the people. Here and only here can you wear that hood despite what it stands for. We don't have to like or agree with you but we do have to tolerate you.

Ahhh, again with the KKK reference. Get that trick from your GOOD PAL Jonathan Pollard? Funny how those who are "sypathetic" towards Israel always seem to be loyal to Israel over the US....

quote:

Sorry for ranting - and Sam, if I drew a conclusion about your character unjustly from what I read I apologize.

Brain what the Hell made you state that towards me?? I hate no one, and as someone who doesn't believe in ANY organized religon you are way off. I was stating that my Father has spent his entire life trying to make this country a safer place and it is the so called elected officials that cut the budget for counter intelligence that lead to this horror.

What made you think I was referring to you?

DOCDEAN

your intentions are great!

this has turned into a political debate of foolish proportions, i say this, for you were just honoring a friend, and 3000 some odd other husbands, wives, children, friends that were killed.

i will honor your friend by telling my children the name and where they perished. they will include the name in their prayers tonight.

i care not for the political madness that we find ourselves in today. i strive to change the things i can....

i responded to this incident with my fellow partners, i experienced the tragedy, and i will honor those that were lost. all of the political to and fro that we see here just takes away from the memory of the people we lost.

let those that wish to honor friends, family, and coworkers do so.

i don't agree or disagree with your arguments... i just ask that you let the people that wish to remember have a day to do so.

The fact that you posted right after my last post. If you wern't referning to me I'm sorry, I get a bit touchy when I think I am accused of something that is dead wrong and tend to lash out. It has happened with friends as well, I need to learn a little more control I guess.

I was at work, I work at a milarty base repairing milarty equipment, when 9/11 happened.

I remember the shoched looks on all of my co-workers and the disbelief of what was happening.

I remmber the tears in our eyes.

I remember telling everyone that we needed to get back to work as the equipment we work on was going to be needed.

I will NEVER forget!

Brian & Xitron,

Thank you. You've summed up what's what quite nicely. And quite politely too. I can relate to the 'too touchy'. I'm trying to get over that myself.... My only comment would be that you have defamed bilgewater. Even bilgewater isn't that bad.

I thought Christians took it on the chin too frequently. I had forgotten about the Jews.
