Yellow etrex - how do I input the coordinates?

I have used the etrex for a couple of days now but not sure how to input the coordinates so I find them. Do you have to buy the interface cable and use some software? If so where is a cheap place to get both?

Push and hold the enter key. This will mark your location. Move cursor to "OK?", push enter. Now bring up the waypoints, move cursor to the one you just marked, push enter. Move cursor till on coords, push enter. Change coords. Name can be changed same way.

You can skip a couple of steps nscaler talks about. After you hold the enter key to mark a new waypoint, you can use the up and down to move to the coordinates, press enter, and then change them right there, the same goes for the icon and the name.
