Go to your "Timers" tab under the set-up. Select "user timer" under the "Timers" tab. Make sure it is turned on and then select "Down" to turn on the count-down timer. Set a few seconds and watch it count down. When it reaches "0" it turns into a count-up timer and starts adding time. Now....Here's what bugs me. We paid dearly for this unit and it has an audible beeper. Why wouldn't Garmin have this thing beep at us when it reaches 0 on the count-down timer? What the heck good is a count-down timer if we have to watch it continuously 'till it reaches 0? I called Garmin and made a suggestion to them, and I suggest you do the same. This would be a handy little timer (for taking medications, ect.) if it would just tell us when the time is up! (Did I mention I love this unit except for that?)
