DaveV
I am interested in getting started in Geo-Caching with my wife, however, I do not have $250 to spend on a nice gps handheld. Is there somthing a bit cheaper that will at least get me into the hobby? Somthing that maybe just displays the gps coords and a compass. Or do I need to fork out the 250-450 dollars? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Quote Link to comment
dave and jaime
in canada the magellan 315 is currently $175 and the yellow etrex $200. ive used more expensive units but dont see the advantages of upgrade to mapping and the other such features. you could also check the 'garage sale' portion of the site and ebay for a steal. keep in mind that any gps will tell you about where you are its the bells and whistles that drive up the price. +geospotter
Probably the most bang for the buck would be this one. It has WAAS, mapping, and expandable memory (don't worry, you'll learn.) By the way, it also comes in yellow. Others, Magellan 315 $100-$150 (Sears has them on sale for $49 if you can find one), the Etrex Yellow $80-$110. geospotter Quote Link to comment
